The formula of the frosty shades was disappointing but not surprising. They had a thick, stringy texture and applied streaky, with pooling at the edges and visible brushstrokes that only diminish slightly when dry. The formula on the rest of the shades was stellar; no problems or texture issues whatsoever. All dried quickly and were glossy even without topcoat.
I love the foils in this collection. They're a little different than the standard single-tone foil because they have flakes of gold in them. It's most noticeable in the photo of Gossip Over Gimlets, so be sure to take a good look at that one. I believe China Glaze is calling these new two-tone flaky foils "aluminum finish."
Aluminum finish? Awesome. Frosts, though? Please, no. Just.... no. Public Relations and Kiss My Glass were intolerably bad for me, but the other shades weren't as streaky or as thick as those two. Tongue & Chic and Don't Make Me Wine are closer to a regular shimmer finish than a frost or metallic, but still show brushstrokes if you're not careful.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that the formula on these wasn't good, because they *look* incredible! I like how all the colors are really complementary to each other- they'd make great nail art together.
ReplyDeleteI love Don't Make Me Wine :-)
ReplyDeleteI love this collection! I have six colour from it, and now I want the other six. :D
ReplyDeleteThese all look amazing on you. Sorry the formula wasn't great but they look awesome.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad to see your nails more frequently again :D
ReplyDeleteI don't know where China Glaze's head has been at recently with regard to all the odd finish choices I have been seeing from them, and heaven knows I don't need any more foils OR frosted polishes, but really I just wanted to say I was happy to see you posting swatches and stuff.
I have not been interested in these, but you made them look gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the first 3 colors.
ReplyDeleteRed-Y & Willing looks an awful lot like Ruby Pumps, minus the sparkle. And Strike Up a Cosmo seems very similar to Orly's Rage. Maybe a little more pink?
ReplyDeleteI am totally convinced that I need Goldie but Goodie and Gossip Over Gimlets now. I loooove foil finishes!
ReplyDeleteCharmed I'm Sure and Queen B: Oh. My. God. They are gorgeous. WANT!!! :)
