Remember how I was raving on Twitter and Instagram about how amazing these new Maybelline Color Show Brocades polishes are? And how you all warned me that they were going to chip pretty much immediately?
I was wearing Gilded Rose (which I honestly still adore, it's too gorgeous not to love), and I was just about to photograph it for a post, when I noticed...
Maybelline Color Show Brocades in Gilded Rose
Well, damn. That's unfortunate. And what a weird place for it to chip, too. In my defense, I wasn't wearing basecoat, so there's still hope. Right?
I guess that means I get to switch colors now. Always a silver lining. Hah! Okay, but seriously, these are absurdly pretty. Prettiest (mainstream) polishes I've seen in months. They remind me of the China Glaze Prismatic collection glitters, but with more variety.

That's crazy!!! It's super pretty though! This is a polish you wear for a special event it seems.
ReplyDeleteso pretty! but sad about chipping :(
ReplyDeletealso awesome to see you posting so much!
Oh what a bummer :(
ReplyDeleteI hope it might last longer with a base coat...
Shit. But lovely :)
ReplyDeleteUgh, bummer. I have polishes chip like that all the time, but I have this weird polish polarity issue I think. As in it won't stay on my nails more than 24 hours. And chips all weird like that. Haha.
ReplyDeleteWow that polish is pretty! I change my polish pretty much everyday so it may be worth the chip risk.
ReplyDeleteHow weird. Beautiful colour though. Is it difficult to remove? Though I guess probably not at the rate it's chipped x
ReplyDeleteI saw swatches of these a few weeks ago and I thought they were super pretty, but I didn't know the chipping was this bad! That really sucks.
ReplyDeleteI just bought these today and I am so in love. Don't care about the chipping either, haha
ReplyDeleteThe Maybelline Sequins polishes did the same thing, which sucks because they were so pretty!
ReplyDeleteI've tried everything to keep these on my nail, layering, different top coats, nothing stops them chipping within about 2 hours. And in weird places like you! I'm please I'm not alone, but I have bought all four and will probably only wear them for a night out because of the wear time.
ReplyDeleteI bought three of the Brocades polishes this week but haven't had a chance to wear them yet. I agree that they're VERY pretty but didn't realise they're so prone to chipping. Have you seen Rosy Rosettes? God it's lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh no! What a pretty polish, I can't believe it chipped like that, yikes!

ReplyDeleteOh damn, how strange and unfortunate! :(
ReplyDeleteoh wow, they look like foil! well maybe base & top coat might fix that??
ReplyDeleteTry with a good base coat and top coat and report back, please. I haven't seen these in the shops yet but I think I'm already in love...!
ReplyDeleteThat polish reminds me of She Walks In Beauty by AEngland!

ReplyDeleteI bought all of the Brocades (and all of last year's Sequins polishes) and using a goo dbase does help with the chipping, but not much. They're just so pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteI haven't experienced a problem with chipping at all. I wore Gilded Rose (2 coats) on top of Sinful Colors Silver Belle for 3 days and barely had any tip wear. I got 1 tiny chip on the morning of the 3rd day, then a few more by days end. I was impressed!
ReplyDeleteBut it looks sooo pretty... :(
ReplyDeleteSo pretty!
ReplyDeleteThat's what every matte ever does to me!
ReplyDeleteSad about the wierd chip but as you say, the polish is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThis was beautiful! Hope it was just coincidence with the weird chipping. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing Crushed Crimson since Sunday and haven't encountered any chipping yet. Granted, I had 2 coats of topcoat until yesterday when I stamped the tips...now I have 3 coats of topcoat. That might be a factor! I'm obsessed with this color. It's pretty amazing for being around $4.00!

ReplyDeleteOk a I almost bought all the collection I'm now crossing nails for it to stay on.
ReplyDeleteI got Ruby Refined, Embellished Blues, Emerald Elegance, and Amethyst Couture, but I haven't tried them on my nails yet. Thanks for the heads up though, so I know to be extra careful picking out base & to coats.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, just maybe I will be one of the lucky ones and not have the chipping problem.. or perhaps it is just me trying to justify buying all of the colors offered....
ReplyDeleteOn me they last for 3 days so I guess I'm lucky :)
ReplyDeleteLMAO! That is cold blooded, Maybelline. At least it's so pretty! I still wanna buy and try...
ReplyDeleteI thought it was just me! Both shades I wore (Amethyst Couture and one of the reds) chipped on the first day. My chips are always on my thumb, though, so easier to hide :)
ReplyDeleteThat sucks so bad! It is really stunning too :(
ReplyDeleteAww it chipped :( The shade is stunning though :)

Have you tried Revlon Colorstay basecoat yet?
ReplyDeleteUgh, that sucks! I picked out a few of these for my husband to save back for cheap Christmas presents. I was really looking forward to trying them. :(
ReplyDeleteI bought almost all of this collection and they all chip pretty easily but honestly, still worth it. The colors are phenomenal.

ReplyDeleteI tried two of these a day ago and there are no chips at all. I'm hard on my nails and wash my hands frequently. I didn't used a base coat, just two coats of the polish and a rushed application of NYC Grand Central Station as a quick dry top coat.
