The latest news from OPI:
San Francisco by OPI brings street chic style with West Coast flair to nails and toes for Fall/Winter 2013. This new collection features a palette ranging from sky and sea-colored hues of blues and gray to reds, burgundies and browns inspired by some of the city’s most iconic elements – Chinatown, the Golden Gate bridge and the Embarcadero.
This fall mélange is mixed with texture, seen in three new Liquid Sand™ nail lacquers in earthy hues of taupe, blue and gray: It’s All San Andreas’s Fault, Wharf! Wharf! Wharf! and Alcatraz…Rocks. Liquid Sand lacquers dry to a textured, matte finish, infused with reflective sparkle.
“To me, the women of San Francisco and the city itself really epitomize today’s multifaceted beauty consumer,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “San Francisco offers a European flair with distinct West Coast attributes. These elements inspired a collection of urban chic nail lacquer shades, thanks to the sophisticated combination of high fashion and eclectic street style.
“With twelve colors ranging from moody grays and blues to garnet and ruby jewel tones, these lacquers are designed to accessorize fall’s hottest looks, from military details to winter whites,” continues Weiss-Fischmann. “On fall runways, models were seen wearing luxurious textures from head to toe.
The three new Liquid Sand nail lacquers incorporate the texture trend through nails, with rich matte finishes in colors to complement the season’s fashion.”

Been looking forward for this collection since reading about it on Marta's blog, ChitChatNails! Oooo can't waitttt!!
ReplyDeleteI really wish polish companies would learn the difference between duo-chrome and holographic. Other than that, I can't wait.

ReplyDeleteOPI used to do holographics really well, it makes them look really dumb to say these new polishes are holographic when they blatantly aren't.
ReplyDeleteI think they look great - I love those dark shades. I hope to see your swatches soon!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw that it was an OPI fall collection, my first thought was "uh oh, here comes trouble." They're always my favorite and I rarely let one go by without picking up 4 or 5 shades.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I know better by now than to trust their absurdly inaccurate promo pictures, but the navy and the dark teal look VERY familiar... I'm pretty excited for Peace & Love & OPI and a few of the vampies, though. And the shimmery grey - I can never have enough of those.
How exciting! Some of the shades look really - I'm especially curious by "haven't the foggiest"!
ReplyDeleteSomehow all OPI´s collections look alike their. There are two, three new shades and a lot of dupes... Don't you think you´ve seen these colors before?
ReplyDeleteWould be a nice surprise if Peace & Love & OPI actually was holo in addition to the duochrome, would be very cool!
ReplyDeleteI realllllyyy hope that 'It's All San Andrea's Fault' is the liquid sand nude I've been craving! I was so disappointed when Honey Ryder turned out to be metallic! I just want a textured nude so badly!
ReplyDeleteHave you tried Zoya - Godiva from the Pixie Dust collection? It's a very pale nude, but might be close to what you're after. :)
DeleteYeah, if you can get your hands on Zoya Godiva, it's the PERFECT textured nude. Classy and edgy at the same time. I love it.
DeleteFrom the promo pictures, 'Dining al Frisco' is the only one that I'm really interested in; definitely need to wait to see swatches.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for these. There are some gorgeous colors that I already want, but I hate these liquid/textured polishes! When is this trend going to die?
ReplyDeleteAs a Nor-Cal girl, I'm totally digging the names! However, I really hope that First Date at the Golden Gate is actually "international orange" -- the real color of the bridge, and NOT shimmering ruby as OPI describes it. It would be plain wrong to mess up the color of the Golden Gate. I'm looking forward to seeing swatches.
ReplyDeleteThose descriptions make me want to Barf Barf Barf.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking as a native San Franciscan the names and description makes me cringe. No one from SF who is over the age of 14 calls the city Frisco only middle school age kids call them that. Secondly, Sausalito is in Marin county and it's not a part of SF even though it did share the 415 area code for a while. Thirdly the San Andreas fault runs from Southern California to Northern California. Maybe I'm just being nit-picky but I'm wishing the names were so cheesy and that they had a wider range of colors to reflect the city's diversity and our crazy weather. SF doesn't exactly follow the seasons when it comes to weather so just cause it's released in the fall doesn't mean our weather is going reflect in this collection. Like I said maybe I'm being more picky-er because I'm from the city, I'll most likely buy the entire collection just for keep sake and wear a few of them.
ReplyDeleteare they really recycling a katy perry polish so soon?
ReplyDeleteI'm REALLY EXCITED about Peace, Love, and OPI- I might have to take a trip to the only place that I've found in my country that sells OPI. And it's three cities over XD
ReplyDeleteOther than that Muir Muir looks pretty cool, I'd like to see it swatched.
I can't get excited over OPI promo shots. Why are their bottle pix always so weird and photoshopped looking? They're professionals, they can get some decent bottle shots! Anyway, I think the liquid sands sound intriguing, and maybe that v. dark blue. But I love the names. I wish I could be an OPI polish namer.
ReplyDeleteScrangie. I'm brand spankin new to the blog world but pretty damned old to the world in general and I just gotta say.... marry me? I LOVE your blog! I love your thoughts, opinions, photos, dedication, tenacity, focus, insanity intelligence, professionalism and obsessive organization. Everyone else might be jaded by now, but it's all fresh and fun and I feel like I have a world of reading, oohing, frothing (and spending, I'm afraid) ahead of me. Thanks a LOT! (Said with both friendly sarcasm and sadistic anticipation. ;o)
ReplyDeleteLet's have a fall wedding! Eeee! <3

ReplyDeleteOMG! I've been WAITING for a San Francisco collection from OPI! Agree w/Grace -- given that OPI's polish color representations are seriously flawed, it's hard to tell what the colors are really going to be. Are there really only a couple shimmers -- the ones they mention? And, I too hate hearing or seeing "Frisco" -- like nails on a chalkboard! On the other hand, being a lover of "The City," I'm going to need all of these, even if some of the colors aren't really up my alley.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see YOUR pix of them, Scrangie. Then I'll be able to tell what they REALLY look like! Love your polish pix -- I'm always searching your blog when I want to find a pic of a polish I'm thinking of ordering online and there is no store that carries them (either nearby or at all)!! Thanks missy!
