Cirque Colors Dark Horse. What can I even say about it? It comes from a collection of twelve shades, but it's so gorgeous that it deserves its own post.
Cirque Dark Horse. This is a clear base packed with microglitter. The main color is black- yes, black!- microglitter, but it's accented with a rainbow of other colors. I don't think it's actually holographic like it appears, I think there's actually rainbow glitter in here. It reminds me of Tahitian moon sand, or crushed coal and diamonds.
The formula on it was good. It's not too thick, not too thin and rather smooth in application for a glitter. It's opaque, too- I'm wearing three coats here and I have no visible nail line. Dry time is fast. The only flaw in the formula is that it absolutely devours topcoat as it dries. I'm wearing two coats of Gelous here, but I find that Redi topcoat over a coat or two of Gelous does a better job of smoothing the glitter than Gelous alone. I'd even go so far as to say that this needs a minimum of three coats of topcoat. It simply won't reach its full sparkle potential (and you won't notice the rainbow glitter) until the surface is totally smooth.
Forget about that $250,000 black diamond polish. Who would need that when you can have this for $12? It's like a rainbow in the dark...
I purchased my bottle directly from Cirque's website.
It's a gorgeous polish. I really need a good black polish but this is kind of dear for something I will rarely use.
ReplyDeleteOMG, did I actually review a polish before you??? seems stupid but it makes me feel blogproud!! and yes, I agree with you, it's absolutely gorgeous, and the entire collection is stunning!
ReplyDeleteNot only rainbow in the dark, I'd say this had rainbows and galaxies in it! :O
ReplyDeleteWow! This is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this color! I was quite surprised at how much I loved it! I also love the scent, but its too bad it doesn't last long!
ReplyDeleteIt looks a lot like those galaxy nail art without the extra effort ^_^
ReplyDeletethat's an absolutely gorgeous polish!!
ReplyDeleteWow that looks amazing! I have a couple Cirque polishes, but not this one!
ReplyDeleteWow that is gorgeous! If the only downside is that it's hard to get a good shiny topcoat layer, I think I'll deal. That's the most amazing black glitter polish I think I've ever seen. I might buy a bottle for my BFF.
ReplyDeleteWow that polish looks amazing!
ReplyDeletelove it is just soooo dark and black an shiny
ReplyDeleteThe polish is gorgeous, but... WOOWOO Dio!! ;)
ReplyDeleteyeah this is stunning!
ReplyDeleteOMG I'm drooling, that is freakin gorgeous
ReplyDeleteI love glittery black polishes and I have so many I don't feel like I can justify buying another one. But...I want one with rainbow glitter. Do you have an absolute favorite?
ReplyDeleteThis polish had me at it's name. And then I saw your swatches and had to move it up on my to-buy list. I think I have to buy it next! Gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! :)
ReplyDeleteWoah.
ReplyDeletethis is awesome. I defo need to try them out!
ReplyDeleteI so glad you posted this swatch. I just placed an order for this one and a few of the others from the collection this last week. You have made me fall in love with this and am excitingly waiting to receive it.
ReplyDeleteYou do awesome swatching!!!
I agree with your commentary 100%- I purchased this last week, and I'm so glad I did- it's gorgeous, it makes me feel better after being so frustrated with Butter London's Black Knight- this black glitter wonder is a blessing compared to that one.
ReplyDeleteI agree with your sentiment 100%- purchased this a week ago and I LOVE it- it makes up for the complete failure in application that Butter London's Black Knight was for me- it's great to see black glitter foremost, but then for it to have dimension- I'm game :)
ReplyDeleteWOW! reminds me of the galaxy!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I must play Rainbow in the dark :D
ReplyDeleteGreat review. Now I know that I have to have this polish.
This is just too gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteIs the base really clear? I assumed it was black, but the black is really micro glitter? very cool! But, that must be why it eats top coat :)
ReplyDeleteIt's really clear. ^_^
DeleteWow, that is absolutely gorgeous! I need to check out this line of polish!!
ReplyDeleteI love this so hard right now.
ReplyDeleteI like to put on a topcoat of NYC's Matte Me Crazy over glitters, let it dry, then put a regular topcoat on, makes it smooth for a long time. Its the only way I've been able to get Color Club's Holiday Splendor smooth; that is one thirsty glitter :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, lots of people rave about Gelous, but for me, it's never acted like anything other than a normal topcoat.

Lovely indeed <3
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love that it's opaque; I neve would have guessed that it was a clear base from the pictures. Definitely need to add this to my collection.
ReplyDeleteAw, Scrangie, you enabler!
ReplyDeleteCould not resist and ordered some of these today.
(Thanks for sharing such great photos!)
Love this, very galaxy-esque. It's gorgeous
ReplyDeleteStunning! I really adore it, as well as the rest of the collection.
ReplyDeleteJust gorgeous! And very excited to see swatches of the rest of the collection, especially Ophelia. :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful!!!<3
ReplyDeletedroooooooollllls.... I must own this yesterday! Great swatch!
ReplyDeleteGoodness...this is absolutely beautiful!!! I want! Must resist...fading slowly. LOL Gosh, this is pretty!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! Shame that it's such a hungry glitter... I've no access to Gelous! I lol'd at your closing description, though, because it made me think of this:

I love it and I want it but I think I have dupes. I wonder how it fares up against Catrice I Wear my Sunglasses at Night or Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Midnight in NY?
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! But I am not a fan of gritty-drying glitters because I do not want to apply several layers of topcoat to get it nice anc shiny. But this one looks like it's worth the effort.
ReplyDeleteWow, that is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDio! <3
ReplyDeleteoh.my.god. I am in love.
ReplyDeleteI adore anything by Annie, but this one is really special. List amended to read...Epoch, Tibetan Nights, French Roast and this!
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty!
ReplyDelete<3 !!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I'm so bad at smoothing out glitter polishes though...it seems so complicated!
ReplyDeleteI am obsessed with this entire collection.
ReplyDeleteHello do you prefer dark horse or the black knight? I can only afford one...
ReplyDeleteThanks
I wonder if there is a dupe for that nail polish, we don't have this nail polish brand in my country :/
ReplyDeleteyour swatches of this polish are amazing!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love it♥♥♥
