Zoya Designer Collection Fall 2012
Zoya Evvie. A dark grey-teal creme with a smoky, faded-looking finish. A custom shade created for use in Peter Som's Fall fashion week runway show. Knowing Zoya's penchant for non-traditional spellings, I'm actually a little disappointed that they didn't just take this one a step farther and name it Eevee. I guess they are two different names, but still... Would have been cute.
Zoya Monica. Very dark purple creme. Surprisingly colorful-looking for such a dark color.
Zoya Natty. A deep steel blue creme. Like the others, it looks very soft and a little faded.
Zoya Noot. Dark grey-green creme. This one looks almost black in some lights, but the mossy, dusty greenness of it keeps it from being too dark.
Zoya Rekha. This one's a medium red with a slight blue undertone. A custom shade created for use in Bibhu Mohapatra's fall fashion week runway show. I'd call it a blood red. It's bright but not that bright, somewhere in between Kristi and Carmen in terms of brightness. The slightly darker look of it makes it a little more serious and sexy than some of the brighter/lighter reds.
Zoya Toni. A dark berry-ish raisin shade. Creme finish. Ho-hum.
The formula on these was a little bit runnier than I expected, but still good. I didn't have any problems with application once I got comfortable with the texture. They're all nice and opaque, none of them needed more than two coats. Dry time on these is a little faster than on the Diva set, probably due to the thinner formula.
I'm not in love with the Designer colors like I am with the Diva ones, but I have to admit that they're all still really nice colors for fall. My favorite polish in this set is Rekha, but Natty and Evvie are also really interesting. I'd say that Natty is the most unique of all the colors as I can't think of another one that looks exactly like it.
The Zoya Fall 2012 Designer Collection will be available on zoya.com starting July 15th.

Natty is so pretty.I love that deep blue.It looks almost like denim blue. I have a book called "Natty Witch" about a young girl who's a little witchy ;-)
ReplyDeleteOn another note, will you be swatching the Gloss, jellies,Scrangie?
Aw, I want to read that book!
DeleteAnd yep, I'll be doing the jelly gloss set too, just had to get the 'big' collection out of the way first :)
Oooh, there are even more?? Yay!! :D
DeleteAre Evvie and Rekha the same polishes that same out with the Peter Som and Bibhu Mohapatra sets for Fashion Week?
ReplyDeleteI believe to- at least that's what it says in the press release. I never saw the original ones but I'd assume they're the exact same ones
DeleteWhen I was looking at the pictures I was thinking they looked familiar. Ha. Then I read the names and felt silly. Thank you for the beautiful swatches!
DeleteGorgeous! Any idea how Zoya Monica compares to Zoya Pinta?
ReplyDeleteI had that thought too when I saw it! I would guess Monica is probably a little more red-based, but I bet they're pretty similar...comparing Scrangie's swatches of the two doesn't really work though because her own Pinta swatch pulled, as she pointed out, insanely blue...it was worth a shot...
DeleteGood point!
DeleteI wonder if Rekha is the exact same shade of red used in the Bibhu Mohapatra trio, or if it's slightly different and they just recycled the name...?
ReplyDeleteAccording to the press release I have, they are the same ones. I'll add that to my post!

ReplyDeleteI wonder if Zoya referenced the Indian actress Rekha when naming this red polish....it's the lip shade she made famous after all (That deep blood-red she sports in all of her pictures if you do a Google images search)
ReplyDeleteI like these colors nice for fall I have to decide which collection i want... now if only it felt like fall.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pics, as always, Scrangie. Natty and Evvie will be mine. I'm so glad you posted this set today, as that saves me from trying to get up early tomorrow and score one from the Allure giveaway. As if I stood a chance anyway. lol
ReplyDeleteUh oh. I liked two of the Diva shades, but I LOVE pretty much all of these (well, I can probably do without the red or the berry). I'm such a sucker for beautiful cremes. I just wonder how these compare to what's in my stash. Any chance of doing some comparison swatches on these, or are you too bored of the cremes? (Evvie compared to Essie School of Hard Rocks and Noot to Orbis Non Sufficit?)
ReplyDeleteFunny that I like the colours Evvie and Monica because I love Pokemon and my name is Monica!!!

ReplyDeleteI think I definitely like the Divas part of the collection better.
ReplyDeleteSo happy Evvie is being released :) Still no 'Amy' polish, though :/
ReplyDeleteI'd like a Pam, also! :)
DeleteHow do Evvie & Noot look compared to each other? They look about a shade away in the group pic, but it'd be better to tell if they were side by side.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Noot? I swear I'm going to tell them to name a polish after my cat Zeal (AKA Lady Zeal), since it's a perfectly good female name. ;-)
Ooh yay, I was hoping you would do the second batch today, too! :) These are gorgeous as well, but I definitely find the Divas more enticing. Thanks for the great swatches! Xoxo
ReplyDeleteRekha Red is gorgeous! <3
ReplyDeleteIs Natty a dupe of Chanel's Blue Rebel? It's very pretty.
ReplyDeleteYay, Eevee! How sweet. I got all nostalgic.
ReplyDeleteAnyway...vampy cremes are just not me. Fall collections rarely have anything to offer me.
Natty amuses me, because "gnatty" is my bird-watching family's nickname for gnatcatchers, and Natty is almost the same color as one.
ReplyDeleteThis is a pretty solid fall collection. I'd consider some of them when the time comes around.
ARgh, I need all of these! They're exactly my kind of colours, love them! Thanks for the great pics!
ReplyDeleteI love Eevee, long live Pokemon :)
ReplyDeleteClearly Evvie should have been some kind of chameleon polish like FeiFei...you know, for all Eevee's possible evolutions. =P
ReplyDeleteOk, this might sound weird but your nails look edible! I just want to eat them lol! These colors are so rich and so pretty and creamy! Nice pictures! You are the master!

ReplyDeleteGorrrgeous. This collection will be getting my money in the fall, it's my fave of all the fall previews so far. <3
ReplyDeleteI'd really like to know how Noot compares to DL Stormy Weather. As far as I can tell from a pic online, they have the possibility to have really dead-on dupes!

ReplyDeleteI must have this set of polishes!
ReplyDeleteI must have this whole set! They are so pretty :)
ReplyDeleteI got Rekha when it was a limited edition and it's fantastic. My all-time favorite red.
ReplyDeleteLoving the green/blue/teal cremes, I have to be good though, I've just blown some cash on several similar Essie polishes. Your application is so perfect you could make me want motor oil painted on your nails :)
ReplyDeleteI was just checking out some 2010 posts of yours (and persuading myself into buying even more bottles of polish!) and I just wanted to say that your current nail shape and length is so much nicer. Your swatches always make me want to click "buy", "buy"!
ReplyDeleteScrangie, your nails are always beautiful, but in this post, WOW! Your nails are perfection. And you can pull off every single shade.
ReplyDeleteNatty seems rather similar to OPI Ski Teal We Drop~
ReplyDeleteRekha! Oh man, STUNNING!
