For the nail color component of NARS Fall 2012, there's just one lonely color: Storm Bird. I think the name is fitting, just look at that bottle. It looks like there's a thunderstorm brewing inside it.
NARS Storm Bird. Limited edition. Storm Bird is a dark grey creme. It looks more neutral than a lot of greys; I don't see any strong green or blue tones in it. Perhaps it leans more to the blue side, but not by a lot. It dries darker than bottle color.
The formula on this was excellent, just as nice as the Thakoon for NARS collection polishes were. It was smooth, just the right viscosity, had a good brush and was almost entirely opaque in one coat. I used two coats here. Dry time was quick.
Storm Bird is a very nice polish. It's dark and stormy like the name implies and it has a great formula. I like it, but I wish that they had released more nail colors for fall!
NARS Storm Bird Nail Lacquer is limited edition and retails for $18. It is available now on narscosmetics.com.

Oooooo.. I like it! I'll need to see it in person, though - it looks almost green-grey to me in pics.
ReplyDeleteI'm not mad about it. I love the look of it in the bottle, but I've seen a hundred greys like that. Disappointed!
ReplyDeleteOh, this is gorgeous. I'll be looking for it at my local Nordie's.
ReplyDeleteOh damnit, now I need this. Wish I had this now so I could wear it all through July to bring about more rain. lol.
ReplyDeleteThis is really beautiful! I'm going to look out for this in my Sephora, iunno if they get new shades or just have a few stock old ones, but they do have Nars polishes once in a while.
ReplyDeleteI never thought I'd like a dark grey until I saw this. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteHmmm...looks quite interesting.
ReplyDeleteHaha I love what adventures of a mad scientist just said! I love this colour and generally stormy moody colours of this sort and funnily enough I am wearing Endless Night by Nars which is another moody shade.. I definitely need this in my life and I am actually very pleased that it dries a bit darker than the bottle <3 MMmmmmh grey goodness, I love it! And rain.. haha x
ReplyDeleteI love it, it's an awesome color! And you're right, the bottle does look like it's brewing a thunderstorm!!! :)
ReplyDeletePretty! It looks just like Nails Inc The Thames which I have on my nails right now. It totally seems like it has blue in it!
ReplyDeleteWow, that's beautiful! I never thought I'd be into a darkish gray creme, but there's something special about this one. It looks fabulous with your skin tone.
ReplyDeleteThe way the light hits the nails, it looks a tad shimmery. I'm seeing a slightly blue-green cast. Perfect stormy day gray!
I'm not all that crazy about greys but it is pretty in creme form. Still I not to in love with it to get it, plus im pretty sure there's something similar I can find in the drugstore. Thank you for the swatches.
ReplyDeleteIn the drugstore I'd try Sinful Colors "Leap Flog" (yes, that's the name ;-) or the Revlon Moon Candy duo in "Supernova".
DeleteThat's a nice polish, and you rock it well!
ReplyDeleteInteresting how it's neutral. Gray is one of those colours that I don't haven't tried much of in terms of polish, so I'm curious to find out if this one will work on my skin tone. I'll have to see it in the store and hold it up to my fingers to tell.
I'm loving that beyond all reason, I'd be gazing at it all day...lovely.
ReplyDeleteOops, should have checked Nars UK before commenting, it's not listed on there, but there is a shade called 'Galion' which is new and looks very similar. Does anyone know if Storm Bird is USA only (or named differently here maybe?)
ReplyDeleteGalion was released last year as part of the Fall 2011 collection, so I'm afraid it's not the same as Storm Bird. I'm pretty sure it's not a US exclusive though, so it might pop out soon :)
DeleteI hope they come out with a separate fall collection for nails!!
ReplyDeleteWoooo this is nice!!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThis looks pretty but nothing unique worth spending that much on. Does anyone know of a China Glaze, Orly, Essie or OPI dupe? I saw the Sinful colors one mentioned and I will check that out, but really not a fan of their's.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone have an Essie, Orly, China Glaze or OPI Dupe?
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of Sinful colors. I'd like something mid-range in price. I don't think I need to spend $14 or whatever on a polish I will wear once LOL
Try Sephora by OPI IN break a Leg warmer. I just swatched them both in store and I cannot tell the difference. I asked a few people and they couldn't either. Nails inc. Thames is also a dupe. I could not compare in sunlight, but I tried all the bright lights in the store plus a flash photo.
