Here's what I got:
The Burning Heart palette that I've been eying forever.
A few more Chromalust Loose Eyeshadows.
And two pairs of the new Sugarpill lashes.
The Burning Heart palette comes with the same gorgeous packinging that the Sweetheart palette has. It's a very sturdy black cardboard palette. On the front is the Sugarpill logo in metallic silver against a hot pink heart/cross/crown design.A few more Chromalust Loose Eyeshadows.
And two pairs of the new Sugarpill lashes.
I haven't tried on either pair of lashes yet, but I did play around with the palette and the Chromalusts, so here's a quick review of those:
SUGARPILL COSMETICS BURNING HEART PALETTE
On the back is an equally gorgeous and well-designed label that lists the name of the palette, the colors in the palette, the weight of the product inside and has the Sugarpill shop URL.
The palette flips open to reveal four huge shadow pans and a full sized mirror.
All of the shades in the palette have a matte finish when swatched, but Poison Plum has a very subtle turquoise shimmer to it in the pan. I originally assumed that this was a match for Make Up For Ever #92, but it's really not, even though they look pretty similar in pictures. Poison Plum is lighter and a lot more red-toned than #92.
Swatched heavily, no primer, natural light and flash. Flamepoint, Buttercupcake, Love+ and Poison Plum.
I do like these colors a lot, but I'm not as impressed with them as I was with the Sweetheart palette. The colors in the Sweetheart palette felt so smooth and and almost creamy in texture. These have a very stiff feel to them. They felt chalky, hard, and a little sticky/clumpy/grainy feeling, didn't swatch smoothly and just didn't feel anything like the Sweetheart shadows. I thought they would have the same powdery-smooth-cool texture and the same streak-free, barely-need-to-use-any super intense color payoff.
I've only use Poison Plum and Buttercupcake on my eyes so far, but Buttercupcake gave me trouble and Poison Plum was mostly fine.
SUGARPILL CHROMALUST LOOSE EYESHADOW (DECORA, HYSTERIC, LUMI)
The Chromalusts come in equally impressive packaging. The lids have the same hot pink/silver Sugarpill logo that the palette has.
The labels are equally nice. Clearly printed, cute, and with all the pertinent information. Ingredients are not listed on the jars themselves, but are included on the outer box (not shown).
The jars have wide mouths and no sifters. Product is filled by weight, not by volume, so each jar looks like it contains a different amount.
The colors I picked this time were:
Decora. A bright pink shimmer, slightly yellow-based with a coral tinge, and lots of tiny bright green sparkles.
Hysteric. A blue-toned frosty purple shimmer with little blue, green and pink iridescent sparkles. It's like a better version of MAC Violet pigment.
Lumi. A sheer white base with bright turquoise/blue/green duochrome shimmer.
SUGARPILL EYELASH OVERDOSE FALSE LASHES (PIXIE BOMB, STORMY)
Also picked up two of the new Sugarpill lashes.
They come in a plastic tray with a paper sleeve that included some instructions on how to apply the lashes.

Swatched without primer, natural light and flash. Decora, Hysteric and Lumi. In the third picture (the blurry one), you can see all the iridescent sparkles in each color really well.
These were really nice. I've used all three and I like them all so far. The payoff is good, they feel very smooth and they blend pretty well. Lumi is sheer so it's best used over a colored base. The only thing I don't like so far is that Decora bleeds pink when I use it wet (example of that in a minute).
Also, my Lumi exploded a little in shipping :(

Everything in the box was covered in this really pretty blue-green shimmer and I couldn't figure out why until I opened the Lumi Chromalust box and a cloud of shadow poofed out. Not really a big deal, I only lost about three or four applications-worth of product, but still a bit of an unexpected mess to clean up.
SUGARPILL EYELASH OVERDOSE FALSE LASHES (PIXIE BOMB, STORMY)
Also picked up two of the new Sugarpill lashes.
They come in a plastic tray with a paper sleeve that included some instructions on how to apply the lashes.
These are called Pixie Bomb. They're long, spiky lash sections alternating with short, fine criss-cross lashes. Click on the second picture of you want to see a closeup of the hairs.
These ones are the Stormy lashes. These are also a spiky style, but they have a slightly more natural look. They're full and medium length with a slight curl to them, and if you look closely, you can see that some of the hairs are a deep blue instead of pure black.
A few little things to note about the lashes: They don't come with their own glue, the packages aren't marked with the names of the styles, and they're made of either natural human hair or synthetic hair, depending on the style.
One thing that I love about these is that Sugarpill's website has an actual picture of each lash style being worn on the eye. I can't tell you how much I appreciate that and how easy it makes deciding which lashes to order.
Once I try to apply them I'll have to report back with my results. They seem really nice and lightweight compared to other lashes I've tried, so hopefully I'll have good luck with them!
I did a couple fast looks using some of these products:
This was:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Lemon Drop
NYX White Eyeshadow Base (lid only)
Sugarpill Chromalust in Lumi on lid
Sugarpill Chromalust in Hysteric in crease and on lower lashline
Sugarpill Chromalust in Decora wet as liner
Urban Decay 24/7 Liner in Zero on waterline
Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara
Sugarpill Poison Plum on brows
If you look closely at my liner, you can see that bleeding problem I was talking about. It happened gradually, but by the time I was done applying my mascara, I noticed that a lot of pink color had bled out of Decora and onto Lumi. Maybe I got it too wet? Or maybe it's just one of those colors that bleeds. All three shades are very sparkly looking on the eye... maybe next time I'll tone it down a little so it doesn't look so shiny.
This was:
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Sugarpill Chromalust in Decora on inner half of lid
Sugarpill Chromalust in Hysteric on outer half of lid
Sugar Pill Pressed Eyeshadow in Poison Plum in crease and on lower lashline
Urban Decay 24/7 Shadow Pencil in Clash as liner
Eyeko Skinny Brush Mascara
Ooh, clumpy lashes, bad. Anyway... this didn't turn out quite like I envisioned it, but it still looks pretty okay-ish. I wanted to do an 80s-looking pink and purple thing, but this just sorta melted into a weird purple gradient. The sparkles in Decora and Hysteric are super pretty, but you have to be careful not to overblend them or they'll disappear. I patted some extra on after blending to make sure the sparkles were still visible. Poison Plum went on a little streakier than I hoped, but the color is nice.
Overall, I'm fairly happy with everything I ordered. I love the Chromalusts, the lashes look super cool and the shadows are okay, but I didn't expect them to be so stiff-textured. I'll have to go through and use each color a few times to see if I can get them to go on a little smoother like the Sweet Heart shadows do. My Lumi spilled on everything, but that's okay, it happens and my jar is still full.
I do wish that their shipping statement was more accurate, though. I did get notice ahead of time that my order may not ship until February 20th, and I got a shipping notice on the 20th as promised. The problem is that the package didn't actually ship until the 24th, similar to my last order. I ordered during a sale (meaning extra high order volume), I completely understand and acknowledge that shipping will be longer and I'm 100% okay with that, but it's a confusing to be told that your order has shipped/will be shipped on X day when it hasn't. I'm totally cool with long turnarounds and long shipping as long as I know about it going into it. My order did arrive and everything was fine, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Probably doesn't happen if you're not ordering during a sale.
One awesome thing to mention is that my order came with a little business card like the last one, except this time it had a super hot picture of Amelia Arsenic (aka Destroyx from Angelspit) on it! I thought that was pretty cool, as most brands tend to use generic pop star-type celebrities as models, but for once a brand I like used a model that I'm actually familiar with, and one from a band who has toured with/has members from other bands I like. Neato.
Everything here can be purchased directly from Sugarpill's website. Shipping is a $5 flat rate for all US orders, but orders of $75 or more get free shipping, including international. The Burning Heart palette is out of stock again, but it's a permanent item, so it will be back eventually.

Very yummy haul! I love the loose pigments you got - the colors are gorgeous. =)
ReplyDeleteThank you :D Lumi is especially cool cause you can layer it over things to give them a turquoise sparkle effect!
DeleteI've been wanting to try Sugarpill! Beautiful colors.
ReplyDeleteNearly everything I've tried from them has been amazing, especially the Chromalusts!
DeleteI'm a little disappointed to hear that you weren't ecstatic about Burning Heart. I just ordered Decora and Asylum a few weeks ago and was really looking forward to having a super dramatic red that was really easy to work with, and figured I would find that in Love+. Do you have any fire engine reds that you're crazy about?
ReplyDeleteI can't think of any red mattes that I'm in love with. Most of the red mattes I have are way too pink for me to call them truly red (like MAC Passionate). The closest I can think of to a bright red matte that I love is Aromaleigh Tainted Love (though weird application), but I'm pretty sure that one is long gone. There's a good red in one of the Wet n Wild palettes, but I can't think of the name of it right now.
DeleteThere are a few red shimmers I love, but Asylum is the best of all so far.
Love+ still has hope because I haven't used it on my eyes yet, but it didn't swatch very smoothly on my arm. Will have to use it tonight.
When I saw this review with Love+, I was super excited--I've been looking for a primary red matte shadow for a while now, but I can't seem to track one down that has a good feel and strong pigmentation. Is there anything you would recommend in that vein?
ReplyDeleteI don't currently have a pressed primary red matte that I love right now. Love+ is the best I've tried color-wise, but I haven't tried wearing it yet. The only other one I really like is discontinued and has annoying application (Aromaleigh Tainted Love). I'm still on the lookout for *the* red, myself!
DeleteI experienced the dryness you did in my poison plum shadow, but I have the rest of the BH palette and they were buttery, dont-need-to-use-a-lot like ou described sweetheart was. Maybe it was a production fluke? Either way, great review!
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if it is. I thought I heard somewhere that they were switching manufacturers, so I wonder if that happened and the formula changed? I've never heard anyone say that theirs were stiff or dry like mine were, so something must be up. I adore my Sweetheart palette and I was hoping these would be exactly the same!
DeleteI know this is an old post, but I wanted to chime in after trying my palette for the first time the other week in case someone else is like me. All my shades were dry and stiff in this palette--I can't even get the red to show up on my eyelids. It's like the pigment stains my skin/fingers, but won't transfer to my lid. And when it does transfer, it won't blend because, as I mentioned above, the color has already stained my skin. These shadows don't shade--they stain.
DeleteI haven't had any luck with my three palettes being soft and buttery except for maybe a few shades in my Heartbreaker set. So far, I'm not impressed...
I know this is an old post, but I wanted to chime in in case anyone else is like me and trying these palettes out for the first time.
DeleteI experienced the same thing you did, especially with the red and purple shades. Mine were so chalky, stiff, and patchy. I couldn't get the red to show up on my eyelid without packing it on, and when it did, it stained my eyelids, making it incredibly difficult to blend out. The weird thing is, the colors showed up fine on my fingertips, but they just wouldn't transfer to my hands. These shadows don't shade--they stain!
So far, I'm not impressed. None of the eyeshadows in my three palettes are smooth and buttery except for maybe two. I'm feeling jipped here and a little mad that I'll have to send them back at my own expense. At least your Sweetheart palette performed well...

ReplyDeleteI <3 Sugarpill. Glad you got this palette :)
ReplyDeleteMe too :D
DeleteI really liked how Hysteric and Lumi looked on you. I'm always on the hunt for a good purple, I may have to add Hysteric to my collection...
ReplyDeleteHysteric is nice, it's really similar to MAC Violet, but with extra little sparkles and flashes of green and blue!
DeleteMy Burning Heart is not stiff at all. Its the most buttery eyeshadows I've ever owned! Maybe you got a bad batch?
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering now if that's the case. I've never heard anyone say that their Burning Heart palette was stiff or chalky, and they don't feel anything like the Sweetheart palette I have... I wonder if anyone else besides me got a bad batch? :(
DeleteI'm sure I saw someone in a Facebook group recently saying similar things about their palette so it's not just you!
DeleteI wish I was 20 again, if I had those palettes in the 80's, I would have worn them every day! The colors are lovely Scrangie, and they bring me way back to the day when I was a fixture at Bookie's, The Pink Flamingo, Todd's, and The City Club, the way cool punk bars I frequented when I was a whole lot younger. Back then, I would have to buy eye shadows, grind them, mix 'em up to get all the great colors that are so avaliable now. They look great on you!
ReplyDeleteSo awesome, thanks for sharing that with me :D I love it when people share their makeup stories/memories, it's one of the things I love most about blogging! <3
DeleteLove the looks you've created! I absolutely adore Sugarpill's eyeshadows, haven't tried any of their lashes, yet...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Phlox
Sugarpill is for sure my favourite cosmetic brand, high end or indy.
ReplyDeleteI do wish Amy would start putting little stickers around the tops of the chromalusts so they wouldn't spill during shipping. I've ordered many times and they usually do spill out a bit every time. Overall I LOVE the shadows though!
Ahhh the first look is so amazing! I love that you used the pink as a liner!
ReplyDeleteI love the second look. I got to see some of the loose pigments in person for the first time when I went over to a friend's place last week - makes me want them even more!
ReplyDeleteScrangie, your eye looks are the best! :) Love how you incorporate a lot of contrasting colours and still make it all work. That's true talent!
ReplyDeleteOmg. Those quad colors are incredible.
ReplyDeleteI really like your honest review. I don;'t have the burning heart palette but I do have 2 pressed eyeshadows by Sugarpill and I know what you mean by the stiff texture. It's different from most pressed eyeshadows I use and even though I really had to get used to the eyeshadows like that, I do like them a lot now. But I have to admit: I'm a pigment lover myself so I use my Sugarpill Loose Eyeshadows a lot more than the pressed ones.
ReplyDeleteI think the texture of the shadows in the Sweet Heart palette is perfection and I have no trouble with those, so I thought this palette would be the same. Still not sure if it's normal or not... I love the colors themselves, but they're just not as even/smooth as I anticipated :( But I do love all the loose ones!
DeleteI've never cared for glitter or loose shadows, but the look you've done with it is great. Those false lashes though, love them.
ReplyDeleteAli
I love 'Lumi' - it's one of my favourite eyeshadows. Amazing over black. *Must* get myself a 'Burning Heart' palette, the colours are incredible!
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad that your Burning Heart palette wasn't what you'd hoped for. Mine is smooth and buttery and divine (with the exception of poison plum...it always seems like purples are patchy! But even poison plum is better than most purples I have, so I don't know.) I have trouble with the palette staining my lids badly though, even with a primer. Do you have any advice on how to avoid that?
ReplyDeleteLumi is my favorite Chromalust! I love putting it over dark eyeshadows and seeing how it changes the color. There are so many different ways to use it! LOVE.
I've used it a couple times now and it seems like Flamepoint goes on just fine for the most part, but the other three aren't what I expected :(
DeleteAs for staining, it happens to me, too (Poison Plum is insane stain-wise!) and I've never been able to prevent it. Sorry I'm no help :(
Awww I'm sorry that the palette wasn't as great as you expected it to be. Still though, I hope it'll still be usable for you! I absolutely adore Flamepoint, it's probably my favorite out of the palette.
ReplyDeleteWeird, my Decora looks so much cooler-toned :( I'd rather have this corally one!
ReplyDelete
