I say "fake" Saint Patrick's Day manicure because this is what I should have been wearing, but instead I took it off to put on something that looked crappy, and all day long I was wishing I would have left this on.
I know, the bloody spot on my finger looks gross, and I told myself I wasn't going to take any more pictures until it healed, but this was already on my nails and it looked really good to me and I thought, screw it, I might as well take a picture.
Besides, the "real" Saint Patrick's Day combination I did was pretty ugly and definitely not picture worthy (China Glaze Gaga For Green, which was excellent, but then I ruined it with some terrible looking green glitter on top.) so this is what I'm pretending I wore because it's way better.
Butter London Wallis, two coats. Sometimes it looks green, sometimes it looks gold... I suppose I could call it golden olive shimmer in a dark green sheer base, but that makes it sound plain and it's really not. The finish is chunky and speckled, but completely smooth. This might be my favorite of all the Butter London polishes I've tried so far.
So, what did you all end up wearing? Any cool nail art?
A England Dragon which is lovely but it chipped on my right index finger and thumb (the 2 I use the most I suppose) which is making me want to take it off =(
ReplyDeleteThis post makes me want to try Butter London even more than I already did! Some day, I'll get my grubby paws on a few bottles.
ReplyDeleteI had a job interview on St Patricks Day, so I wore a boring nude cream... Ugh.
Essie Navigate Her. So, green, but completely bu coincidence. I had been wearing it since Wednesday and I spent all day Saturday doing yard work, so I wasn't about to change my mani just to wreck it pulling weeds.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty, I need to get some Butter London polishes! I went green in more ways than one with China Glaze Tree Hugger and then added some dots in Mavala Pistache and OPI Jade Is The New Black (photos on my blog) x
ReplyDeleteI love your swatches! I was sporting China Glaze Gaga For Green with Sally Hansen Rock Candy and China Glaze Techno layered over it.
ReplyDeleteI think I've decided I want Wallis now...It looks fab on you! I wasn't into these types of greens for the longest time, but really think I am coming around to them.
ReplyDeleteI did a green glitter gradient. I started out with Essie Pretty Edgy then sponged on NYX Girls Emerald Forest, Jordana Green Glitz, and Lynnderella I Can Afford It on the tips! I was super proud of it!
This is lovely, I really like its speckled quality. I wore five different green cremes topped with heaps of not-the-usual Irish-themed nail art (my rule was no shamrocks and no Irish flags.)
ReplyDeleteSince some of it mightn't make a lot sense to anyone who's not actually from Ireland, I included a decoder to each nail on my blog!
I really wanted to wear this color for St Patricks day and I don't know why I didn't. After I failed doing a special st pattys day manicure I ended up wearing Butter London Dosh with Spoiled by Wet n Wild Show Me the Money on my ring finger.
ReplyDeleteMMm this is one of my favorite BL's!! I love the sueded, antique-y quality that it has to it. I ended up wearing a glitter bomb with Orly Here Comes Trouble with some Essence square gold glitter on top =) P.S. I would love to see your original St. Patty's Day mani, I'm sure it's not as big a fail as you think =)
ReplyDeleteLove that polish. I believe I have something like that from China Glaze. I just wore some green polish whose name I forget. I don't do nail art. I'm lucky I can paint my nails halfway decently.
ReplyDeleteChina Glaze Emerald Sparkle with Matte Magic topcoat. It still looks perfect.
ReplyDeleteOrange, lol. I'm such a rebel. I love this color on you, though. I keep passing it up when I am at Ulta because I can't quite convince myself it will look pretty-ugly on me and not just plain 'ol ugly.
ReplyDeleteOh My Goodness. I had this in my hand today...and put it back. And now totally regret it! Thanks, Scrangie! LOL!
ReplyDeleteYa know, I was at Ulta today and had this in my hand. Then I put it back. And now I totally regret it! Thanks, Scrangie..LOL!
ReplyDeleteI like that color on you! I wore China Glaze's Argo topped with Fingerpaints Flecked. Very leafy & earthy!
ReplyDeleteI wore Zoya Edyta. Wallis looks like it might be in the same family.
ReplyDeleteI did a rainbow and pot of gold theme for my nails and eyes because I did not want to look more red than I already would from drinking. :) I just painted each nail a color of the rainbow and ended with 3 gold nails and I did a multicolor glitter gradient on top. Simple but pretty.
ReplyDeleteOkay seriously, i just came from ulta like 15 mins ago and returned the china glaze polishes cause they were WAYY cheap at sally's. I picked this polish up and knackered and guess what i did? I put it back down...why!!!!
ReplyDeleteI had on nail art; an argyle-ish design with SH Green With Envy, RBL Orbis Non Sufficit, RBL Locavore, SH Mellow Yellow and some black striping. It looked pretty good but was kind of a mess, lol. Wallis is definitely on my lemming list!
ReplyDeleteI wore butter london British Racing Green with Essie As Gold As It Gets. Kinda shamrock & pot o' gold.
ReplyDeleteYour post made me giggle because I did the exact same thing...had Essie Pretty Edgy on perfectly then screwed it up royally trying to get fancy with the glitter. I took it all off and was determined to just wear Pretty Edgy but then smudged it, of course. Sigh. Was too lazy at that point to start over again so I put a flakie topcoat on and it wound up looking decent.
ReplyDeleteSeems lots of folks did more atypical greens for St. Patty's day manis this year. I saw mints, dusty pastel greens, bright lime greens and of course this lovely Wallis. I played with a few more traditional Patty manis. Then changed to one that was not going to read Patty because I knew I had to wear it for a good 3 days post holiday. if there is anything that bugs me, it's wearing holiday manis AFTER the date. I really love Wallis.
ReplyDeleteWore Zoya Ivanka with gold glitter across the tips and rainbows on my ring fingers.
ReplyDeleteI wore Nfu Oh 66 :-)
ReplyDeleteI bought this from Nordstrom when it first came out as their exclusive months ago and get compliments every time! Free shipping too!
ReplyDeleteLove it. Just bought Wallis the other day and can't stop wearing it.
ReplyDeleteThat is so, so pretty. Everyone was surprised because I didn't wear a St. Patrick's day manicure at all. Instead, I wore (and am still wearing) a sponged rainbow gradient with black zebra stripes, topped with two coats of Jessica silver holographic topcoat.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty over the top, but I really do love it! And hey, it counts for St. Patrick's day because there's green!
Wallis has to be my only lemming! Thx for reminding me :o) ...
ReplyDeleteI wore China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, with a subtle glittery french tip in Pure Ice Heartbreaker
ReplyDeleteThis color looks great on you. I've been needing to get Wallis for a while now. Must do that in the near future.
ReplyDeleteI did a little shamrock and stripe nail art with a couple colors with no name from Icing. One was just white and one was a bright green jelly that looks like Slimer when I'm outdoors.
ReplyDeleteThis is really a beautiful polish!!
ReplyDeleteThat color is delicious!! I've held off for a long time and might start to cave now. I wore Zoya Tangy (to court twice, hahahaha)--that is a BRIGHT color!
ReplyDeleteOkay, you HAVE to tell me how you made Wallis look so good! On me, it always looks too translucent. I'd love to layer it, but don't know what to use as a base.
ReplyDeleteI'm not really sure! Just slapped on two coats and some topcoat and this is what came out! I thought it looked pretty awesome, but probably even better with a third coat. I just didn't have time to wait for it to dry (why do I always do my nails before I have to be somewhere? I never learn), otherwise I would have added another to make it more opaque. Sorry :(
ReplyDeleteI wore Nerdlacquer's Don't Panic - a light green gel base with green hexagon glitter and micro orange/gold glitter. I've still got it on because I've been too lazy to do something else, but the green is getting to me.
ReplyDeleteSally Hansen Salon Effects in Checker Out. It's bright and cheerful, and makes me think of spring and checkered picnic blankets. Plus, I liked that it wasn't a typical green that I'd think to use.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty...I'm going to have to get it some time.
I had 3 different st. patty`s manicures. At the beginning of the week I wore a watermarble using OPI Alpine Snow and China Glaze Starboard with clover nail decals, then I wore Sparitual Rhythm of Life with Kleancolor Chunky Holo Clover and freehand clovers with a white nail art polish on thumbs and ring fingers, on St. Patty`s Day and the two days before I wore Sparitual Earth Matters with a white clover decal on my ring fingers. I loved them all, earth matters is the BEST green glitter I have yet to come across.
ReplyDeleteIt's certainly pretty. Definitely has a fall feel to me.
ReplyDeleteNo-one would've noticed that spot if you'd not drawn attention to it. Well at least I didn't.
ReplyDeleteHave you tried this with Max Factor Fantasy Fire layered on top - you have to go steady with the MFFF not to over do the purple'ness but when you get it right, 1 thin coat, it creates an amazing bronzed/olive/burnished fantastic colour - makes Wallis more wearable for people like me with lots of pink in their skin tone!
