Wanted to quickly share what I have on my nails right now:
These are the one of the new Sally Hansen Salon Effects designs that came out for holiday this year. It's called Peppermint Twist and it's a white, red, pink and beigey-pink alternating candy striped design.
I think I did something wrong with these this time, but I'm not sure what! I've never had an issue with the Sally Hansen Salon Effects designs I've worn, but for some reason these looked really wrinkled after I applied them. They look fantastic at a normal viewing distance or at arm's length, but up close they look all wrinkly. I applied some topcoat thinking that it might smooth out the wrinkles a little, but instead it made them bubble. I did not expect that to happen. I've worn these types of nail appliques probably a dozen times before and I've never had them bubble or wrinkle.
I really like how the pattern is slightly different on each nail. The lines all looked straight and even and perfectly aligned without any effort on my part, which I appreciated.
So far, everyone who has seen them has loved them, so I guess no one but me can see the wrinkles. I'll probably switch to another design for Christmas day, but these looked perfectly festive for Christmas Eve.
Anyway, back to drinking egg nog and wrapping presents. Merry Christmas and happy holidays!
(This was sent for review.)
My brain is totally convinced that these are scented, probably because I OD on BBW Twisted Peppermint this time of year.
ReplyDeleteThey look great! I know the wrinkling probably drives you nuts, though.
I saw these at the store, but decided I liked the Incoco candy cane design more. I have that one on for Christmas and it looks soooo pretty! It even has the sugary metallic look to it like a real candy cane. They also applied really easily with no wrinkles :o)
ReplyDeleteI always have issues with these nail type stickers so I usually just don't bother...
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
I love them! I wish I could figure out how to put them on! LOL. Merry Christmas!

ReplyDeleteI have the same exact ones! They will be going on tomorrow when I take the plaid Sally Hansen Nail Salon Effects design off! LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I've looked everywhere for that design, but every display had an empty slot :(
ReplyDeleteI think it's just something about Christmas Eve that makes nails not come out quite right. I actually painted mine (haven't tried the appliques yet and figured now wasn't the time to get all crazy, hehe), but the polish set really weird and it makes my pinky nails look really huge.
ReplyDeleteso cute ^-^
ReplyDeleteI did the plaid. They also wrinkled on a few nails but nobody but me knows.
ReplyDeleteI usually use these for just an accent nail. Do you know, are they going to dry out because the package is open? Seems like it's sealed up like that for a reason.
I had the same issue with the red plaid Sally Hansen holiday design! Wrinkley and they wouldn't lay flat near the tip of my nail at all. So disappointing!
ReplyDeleteThey still look really festive, though.
ReplyDeleteHappy Holidays!! ♥
I love this design. Candy cane design is gorgeous to me. Shame it wrinkled.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern is adorable. Too bad you had problems with the wrinkles :(
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with Nailene fakes at the moment and always paaint them before applying. I opted for these this year, alternating diagonal stripes of Ruby Pumps and Glittering Garland with Champagne Bubbles dots on the green stripes (loving the CG holiday collection xD). Gotta start on my new year's eve nails tomorrow :D
Happy Holidays!
My plaid ones from SH didn't set quite right either. They also tore super easily at the tips, other patterns I've used weren't so difficult to work with. Huh!
ReplyDeleteMine chipped like crazy!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas!
I had the same problem when applying my candy cane Sally hansen salon effects. I've tried several different Salon Effect appliques before and never had it happen, so I thought maybe I'd done something wrong too. But for some reason the candy-cane pattern did the same thing for me.
ReplyDeleteI had issues with the SH holiday black and silver argyle pattern tearing and wrinkling but did not have any issues with the standard SH appliques.
ReplyDeleteI have these on as a pedi right now. I didn't have any wrinkling, but they were more difficult to maneuver than some of the other designs I've used. I've noticed that the ones with the patterns that have white backgrounds (candy canes, butterflies, zebra stripes) seem a little thicker and trickier to manage compared to the ones with colored or metallic backgrounds. The leopard print ones with the metallic background practically applied themselves, and the bright multi-colored camo ones are my absolute favorite - they were my summer pedi for about 3 weeks without a single chip.
