An Official Announcement of a Collection Based on The Hunger Games
China Glaze, a division of American International Industries is thrilled to announce that they have partnered with studio powerhouse Lionsgate on a collection of nail polish to debut in conjunction with the March 23, 2012 release of THE HUNGER GAMES.
In keeping with the powerful themes and messages of the story, the collection of nail polish will be inspired exclusively by one of the book’s distinct settings - the Capitol of the nation of Panem. Awash in lavish fashion, food, and entertainment, Capitol citizens enjoy extreme cosmetics and body modifications, bold wigs, and outlandish costumes.
The collection of colors, still in development, will be available at specialty beauty retailers beginning on March 1, 2012.
I will add more information as it becomes available to me!
Edit: Bottle images!
YAY =D thank god :D
ReplyDeleteYAY! I was so afraid this was canceled!
ReplyDeleteGood to hear the are going through with the collection! I saw a promo picture somewhere and a few of the colors looked amazing!
ReplyDeleteNew CG always=Rad. It's also a pretty cool concept. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteI thought it was cancelled? is it still going ahead then?? x
ReplyDeleteYep, just to clarify, this news is direct from China Glaze's PR, so looks like it really is going to happen now!
ReplyDeleteSo excited! If I wasn't at work right now, I would squeel. My coworker already keeps giving me odd looks, though, so I'll refrain.
ReplyDelete"specialty beauty retailers" -> this always gets me nervous when they don't specify, i hope it includes sally's.
ReplyDeleteI hope this collection is good, it would be a real bummer if it wasn't
ReplyDeleteGreat news!!! Looking forward to seeing these colors!
ReplyDeleteThat's fantastic news! I've recently become a CG addict, and I love the Hunger Games, so I'm doubly excited about it. Now to hope that Sally's gets to carry it, too, if only because Ulta is so much more expensive...
ReplyDeleteSo it is focused on the Capitol? I would have preferred to have one color for each district rather than have it all centered around the Capitol... it kind of undermines the hatred of the Capitol throughout the series by making a whole collection dedicated to it. I'm disappointed.
ReplyDeleteYeah, why only the capitol? They couldve done some awesome colors with the nuclear district, coal, trees, technology, I mean, why center on such a hated "character" epic fail- tho i'll still end up getting it lol
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing they focused on the capitol because it was so focused on fashion. The outfits Katniss and Peeta wore could inspire their own entire line of polish and they don't look to be just sticking to that.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I'm super excited for this!

For anyone that hasn't seen the reveal today: http://hungergamesdwtc.net/2011/12/the-colors-of-the-capitol-china-glaze-color-line-revealed/ They assume the colours coordinate with each District
ReplyDeleteI do love China Glaze though!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for this!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad they're going ahead with it, but I'm sad they've decided to focus just on the Capitol instead of on the characters the way the earlier names/colours seemed to be arranged. At least it looks like they're keeping the same colours!
ReplyDeleteI liked how they themed the colours before a lot better... I liked how there was a grey inspired by The Seam, the gold glitter inspired by Cinna's eyeliner, Katniss' various dresses etc... I agree how focussing on the Capitol alone kind of glorifies the "villain" of the book... But thank God they didn't scrap the idea!! What were they thinking? This is the best collection idea China Glaze (or OPI, for that matter) has done in YEARS!

ReplyDeleteI don't think the current colors represent any of that at. They should have kept the original names/theme. It was a much better fit for the colors and the storyline of the book. If they wanted to dedicate it to the Capitol's crazy fashions, they needed some crazy glitters/duochromes/flakies/neons in there.
The old names and themes might not have been from China Glaze themselves, you know. Crazy and all, but someone else could have done that themselves after leaking the collection.
ReplyDeleteAlso who cares? We're still getting the polishes.
Pff, never satisfied...
These names seem a lot less meaningful in regards to being associated with The Hunger Games. I don't really get some of these names and I've read/listened to the trilogy more than twice.
ReplyDeleteHi, new here to scrangie site =) Anyway, I just heard of the hunger games and it seems interesting. As for the polishes I'm only digging smoke and mirrors and argo, everything else really doesn't catch my attention. So I'm looking forward to those colors.
ReplyDeleteHi! New here to scrangie site =) Anyways I heard a little bit about the hunger games and it seem interesting, so far there are only two polishes I'm digging from this collection. Argo and some&mirrors look nice but I'm waiting for full swatches. Cant wait for those two colors to come off out.
