I was going through my stash looking for things I hadn't used in a while when I came across my MAC 4 Sweetie Cakes quad from the Sweetie Cake collection in 2006. I couldn't remember the last time I used it, so I decided to dust it off and do a look with it.
I used:
Too Faced Shadow Insurance Lemon Drop
MAC Almond Icing shadow wet on lid
MAC Demi Sweet shadow wet in crease and on outer lower lashline
MAC Sugar Blue wet in center of lower lashline
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Liner in Alloy
Milani Liquif'Eye Eyeliner in Silver on waterline
Hourglass Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara
The colors in this quad are so pretty but the pigmentation is terrible! They work extremely well wet, but I wish I didn't have to use them wet. Almond Icing is a gorgeous pink/white-grey/red duochrome color, like a pink and white version of Vex. One thing I noticed about this quad is that the colors morphed a lot during the day. Almond Icing started out duochrome but ended up plain pink. Sugar Blue started out blue but slowly turned grey. Demi Sweet lost a bit of its blue sheen.
Still in love with grey liner. The Stila Alloy one is one of the best. The Milani Eye Tech grey one is just as good, but it's not as easy to make a crisp line with the wider felt tip it has. And I can't forget MAC Pearlglide in Wolf. Those are my top three. But I'm always interested in trying more... Any recommendations for another matte grey or subtle shimmer grey (not silver) eyeliner?
Gorgeous! I wish I was better with eye looks, they usually don't turn out like I want but sometimes I get nice surprises lol Jealous of your brown eyes!
ReplyDeleteOoh, pretty! Lancome have a couple of gray liners--a kohl, an auto pencil, and (my personal fave) gray artliner!
ReplyDeletelooks fantastic :) pretty eyes :)
ReplyDeleteSarah, thank you :) I always think it's funny when people compliment me on my brown eyes, cause all my life I wished they were a different color! Grass is always greener, eh? lol
ReplyDeleteBecca, wow, thanks for the recommendations! Going to check those out!
Anibani, thank you :)
Lovely look! Prestige has a charcoal grey liner in their Total Intensity line that I like, though it may have more shimmer than you're looking for. It's also only $5.50!
ReplyDeleteLooking great!
ReplyDeleteAmy, awesome! I think my Ulta or Sally carries Prestige so I'm going to take a look. Thank you :)
ReplyDeleteYolandaas, thank you :D
Gorgeous! I love your eye looks!
ReplyDeleteNeutraKris, thank you!! :>
ReplyDeleteLove the grey eye liner. That's gorgeous. I have to get one.
ReplyDeletewhat a pretty look!
ReplyDeleteYour technique is awesome, as usual, but I keep thinking of a black eye.
ReplyDeleteYou're actually helping make me feel a little less back about not having the Sweetie Cakes quad. I've been kicking myself for years about not getting it. Years! lol.
ReplyDeleteAs far as liner, I actually don't hate Kat Von D's Tattoo liner in Biker. Despite what Sephora's website says, it's more of a dove grey than a smoky grey.
Hello! It's Jenna, just wondering why you never responded to my e-mail, and Ulta carries my fav gray liner!
ReplyDeleteI always love your eye makeup, you have done amazing work. very nice!
ReplyDeleteLucy, thanks :)
ReplyDeleteSocialitedreams, thanks!
Crystal, the purple is a little bruisey, isn't it?
Cassykins, good! It's really not that great of a palette cause it's so chalky; do you have Vex eyeshadow? That's like a cooler version of the duochrome one in this. And thanks for the tip!
Jenna, still trying to think of how to respond to it...
Rakhshanda, thank you :)
This is so gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI love this look!
I recommend Make Up For Ever's Aqua Eyes liner in "21L." It is a pearly/metallic charcoal grey. I have VERY sensitive eyes, and I've never had problems with this pencil.
ReplyDeleteToo Faced Perfect Eyes liner in Perfect Storm. It's an awesome grey.
ReplyDeleteWell that's a blast from the past ... I forgot I have this quad myself. LOL I love the look!
ReplyDeleteIf Physician's Formula made their Eye Booster liner in gray I'd rec that but I don't think they do...:(
Sorry I'm no help! LOL
I looked at this post the other day and thought I had left a comment. Nope...
ReplyDeleteYou know, I really enjoy the eye looks that you do, not only because you blend shadows exceptionally well (and I feel like I'm learning from you even if it's just looking at your photos), but also because I love seeing how you use contrasting liners.
I used to use a lot of black liner, but in the past few months, I've switched over to using Urban Decay's 24/7 Glide-On Eye Liner in Corrupt. I love it, but I'm also playing around with using bold colours and switching it up.
Your eye looks are so inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
