Color Club Beyond The Mistletoe Collection Holiday 2011 Swatches and Review

This holiday season, Color Club wants to turn you into a walking, talking ball of glitter. Hot on the heels of that Backstage Pass glitter overload is the Beyond the Mistletoe holiday collection, which consists of six more glitters. Thankfully there aren't any difficult chunky glitters in this set, just a variety of colored and holographic glitter in normal sizes.


Color Club Beyond The Mistletoe. This is a blue-based holographic glitter. There's a little hint of green in here that makes it almost a turquoise color. Like a blue version of Magic Attraction. This one actually reminds me of Funky Fingers Baby Baby Baby (what a name), but I couldn't find my bottle to compare side by side.



Color Club Candy Cane. This is a pink multicolor glitter. It has different shades of pink, purple, blue and just a tiny, barely-visible scattering of holographic glitter. In fact, I didn't think it had any holo in it at all, but it looks like it does in the bottle when I'm applying it.


Color Club Gingerbread. This is a light gold-based holo. The holographic glitter is gold toned but there's also plain gold glitter mixed in as well.




Color Club Holiday Splendor. My favorite from the collection! It's a really vibrantly colored green jelly base, hint of blue, and a good amount of holographic glitter. I love jelly glitters and this one is awesome because the green base reminds me of Jell-o!



Color Club Jingle Jangle. This is a blue-based multicolored glitter. It has different tones of blue, a little purple and a bit of silver. I don't think there's any holographic glitter in here at all. It's pretty, but I think it needs some holo like the other shades in the collection to make it even better! I love the name. It makes this song start playing in my head...

Color Club Sugar Plum Fairy. This is a light purple-based holographic glitter. It reminds me of Magic Attraction, the way it's mostly holographic but has a tinted, colored look to it. Magic Attraction is more pink, this one is definitely purple. It's the most strongly holographic shade in the collection.

The formula on these was a little tricky. All of these shades are very thick and have a lot of glitter clumps, so it's hard to get a thin, even coat with them. The main problem I had was that the glitter would wipe off in some spots but then clump up at the edges, creating bald spots and thick areas. This can be fixed with polish thinner, but I prefer not to have to thin brand new polishes. The other problem with these is that they're super gritty. I used three coats of polish and one coat of topcoat, but for a glossy finish, at least two coats of topcoat are a must. Dry time is good. Removal is the same as any other glitter: tedious.

Despite the patchy formula, I love this collection. I love glitter... I love holos. I love holo glitters. These are very sparkly and pretty, even if they are really gritty. My favorite is definitely Holiday Splendor, not just because it's the smoothest polish in the collection, but because that vibrant green jelly base makes the holo hlitter look amazing. Really, though, I like all the colors, I don't think there's a bad one in here. They could be smoother like the new Nicole glitters, but they're still pretty good.
