My Sultra flat iron post reminded me that I took this picture of my hair! Remember the other day when I said on Twitter that I mixed Jesse's Girl Secret Weapon loose eyeshadow in with my foundation, hair serum and body lotion? Here's what it looked like:
Isn't that cool looking? I just mixed a dropperful of Ojon Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum and three good sprinkles of Jesse's Girl Secret Weapon eyeshadow in the palm of my hand and then applied it to damp hair before blow drying. It stayed in my hair through blow drying and flat ironing and lasted all day without falling out all over and making a big sparkle mess on my shirt.
It gave my hair subtle blue/green duochrome sheen that you could only see up close. When sunlight hit it, it glistened with little blue, green and purple sparkles. I thought it looked awesome. It made my hair feel a little chalky (probably from talc in the eyeshadow), but it was worth it.
I'm going to try it again with other loose eyeshadows and see how they go with my hair color. I've used gold glitter before (Make Up For Ever Diamond Powder, my favorite) and I've used a serum that claimed to have mica sparkles (it was lame), but this is my best result so far. It's not as sparkly as the Frederic Fekkai Spray-On Hair Crystals (I love that stuff, I have it in copper and silver), but it is a lot less messy.
Duochrome sparkly hair FTW!
Oooooo....Can't wait to do this for Christmas parties.
ReplyDeleteThat is absolutely genius. Love it. I'm wondering about gold for my Christmas party in a couple of weeks.
ReplyDeleteOk... that is freaking amazing.
ReplyDelete:O this is lovely! I used to use virgin vie's gliter hairspray years ago & loved it so definitely giving this a go!
ReplyDeleteI looooooooooooove this idea! I must try it! could you use any hair serum?
ReplyDeleteHauteBeautyBargain, excellent idea!
ReplyDeleteCharlie, I think you'll really like the results with gold! Festive :)
Raising Baby Bee, aw, thank you!
Hannah, always a can of glitter hairspray in my cabinet :)
MissMidnightBlue, definitely! Just put the serum in your palm, sprinkle on the shadow you want to use and then rub your palms together to mix it.
This is genius! I use an Herbal Essences shimmering hair gel for sparkly hair but it's been discontinued and this looks like an even better alternative! Thank you so much for sharing =)
ReplyDeleteOh how fun! I love it!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so cool! I have the same colour hair as you and I used a cobalt blue eyeshadow and it worked so well. Really stood out without being too in your face.
ReplyDeleteHow cool!!!
ReplyDeletethis is nice!!!
ReplyDeleteWell that's just freaking cool! :) I love it.
ReplyDelete...!!!!
ReplyDeleteI think I need to try this. Yes, yes, I do.
Now that is definitely cool!
ReplyDeleteOh, STOP IT. That is FABULOUS. Now I almost don't miss my Manic Panic days, AND I have a use for that Aveda styling cream glop I never mess with...
ReplyDeleteWhat an imaginative and resourceful idea! I can't wait to try it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun idea, Scrangie! :) I can always count on you to do something different than other bloggers. That's why I respect you a lot, and that's also why you're my favourite beauty blogger!
ReplyDeleteOmg! This look SO AWESOME!!! I really want to try it out, but I don't have any loose eyeshadow powder... Yes, I only have a small collection of makeup... :(
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it stayed through blow drying though, that's very surprising! I really want to try this out!!!
