Little late to the party on this one. Sorry, everyone! But better late than never, I suppose. In case you haven't already seen it, this is the Nubar Jeans collection that came out recently. They don't mention it explicitly in any of their ads for it, but it's pretty obviously an alternative to the Chanel Les Jeans De Chanel collection that came out during Fashion Week this year.
Nubar Boyfriend Jeans. This is a faded medium blue with a hint of a creamy jelly finish. Not a true jelly, but not as dense as a creme. My favorite of the set. This one is close to Chanel Blue Boy.
Nubar Dark Wash Jeans. A dark (but not blackened) faded blue, maybe even leans slightly teal. This is a slight creamy jelly finish as well. The second picture is taken in much dimmer lighting, but I think it shows the softness of the finish quite well. Nubar Dark Wash Jeans looks close to Chanel Rebel Blue.
Nubar Faded Jeans. A light sky blue, not as bright as it seems here. Has a bit of very fine shimmer to it, and the shimmer lights up blue in direct sunlight. This was my least favorite of the set due to the streaky, runny formula. This one is Nubar's Chanel Coco Blue alternative.
The formula on these was varied but decent. Faded Jeans was a pain to apply and required four coats just to even out the streaks and ridges. Boyfriend Jeans and Dark Wash Jeans were fine, if not a little thin. Dry time is average.
Overall, nice collection if you're like me and didn't want to spend the $75 on three blue nail polishes from Chanel. It's nice to be able to get all three shades in the Nubar Jeans collection for less than the price of one Chanel. Otherwise, this collection is just three pretty shades of blue, nothing very groundbreaking here. I am rather fond of the two creme shades, but Boyfriend Jeans is definitely my favorite.
These are available directly from Nubar, $19.99 for the set of three.
(This was sent to me for review.)
My favorite is Boyfriend Jeans but they all look great!
ReplyDeleteMy favourite of the bunch is Nubar Boyfriend Jeans, although I agree with you that all of these colours aren't revolutionary. Pretty nonetheless! :)
ReplyDeleteThose are soooo pretty!! I need them <3
ReplyDeleteI really admire your ability to turn a badly formulated polish into an impeccable-looking manicure.
ReplyDeleteThe polishes in the Les Jeans collection are actually $29 each, even more savings!
ReplyDeleteThese look gorgeous on you!
ReplyDeleteVery pretty!
ReplyDeleteI will be ordering this collection. No way was I able to pay $75 for three polishes! These will be fine for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat colors, I always love blue polish
ReplyDeleteCan you put of coat of White Shatter over them and make them acid wash jeans? Those are pretty but I can't wear blue polish to work. :\
ReplyDeleteAaaaaa! They are handsome! I want everything!
ReplyDeletethese shades look creamy and pretty!
ReplyDeleteI actually expected to not like these as much as I do. Great swatches! Faded Jeans seems more robin's egg than actual washed/faded denim but its still a super pretty color.
ReplyDeleteI have just bought Faded Jeans (I wanted Chanel Coco Blue, but it's too expensive and hard to find now)I was rather worried that Faded Jeans would be a disappointment but happily it isn't! It went on smoothly, covered my quite long, white tip-ed natural nails no problem.Happy Blue nails! ;-) x
