All this Nubar duochrome swatching has made me really want to go through all my duochromes and swatch them. Or at least wear them. Every time I put a duochrome polish on my nails, I am mesmerized by it. Ooh, ahh, color changey!
Lately I've been giving Nubar duochromes a lot of praise, but let's not forget who had an entire line of amazing duochromes that you could get at any drugstore for just under $7 a bottle. That's right, I'm talking about Sally Hansen.
Sally Hansen Nail Prisms #26 Cinnabar. I'm pretty sure there's more than one version of this one floating around out there. This one only says Cinnabar on the label, but I swear I've seen one called Cinnabar Opal as well. There's also one called Golden Cinnabar, but that's a different polish. This is actually one of my least favorite of the Nail Prisms simply because it isn't as duochrome as the others. It's a sheer orangey-coral that shifts to pink, yellow and kind of an orange-peach shade. This one requires 3+ coats and I'm pretty sure this swatch was four.
It's a lot prettier in person. Very glowy. There's a lot of depth to this color, it just lacks the crazy strong color shift that you see in something like Turquoise Opal or Amber Ruby.

AWESOME! Your swatches make me want to try every polish you post!
ReplyDeletereally pretty color! ;D
ReplyDeleteIt's a good transition shade from summer brights to fall murkey shades. I keep hearing about SH Prisms - never shown up in our little town' Rite Aide - next trip out of town I will try to remember to look now that I always stop at SH display to look at the Complete Salon Formula because I am so impressed by it thanks to all the nail bloggers telling me not to pass SH by just because it's a drugstore brand.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! Now I regret giving my bottle away! Oh well, someone else is enjoying it. :)
ReplyDeleteI had all the Prisms back in the day, including this one. I agree it is really pretty! I am kicking myself for not hoarding Turquoise Opal - I went through 5 bottles of it. This was back when my "stash" was about 15-20 polishes, lol!
ReplyDeleteReally wish that Sally Hansen would bring these Nail Prisms back. I've only ever seen one in person, but I didn't get it because the duochrome wasn't really strong. I regret not getting it anyway.
ReplyDeleteLayer it over black or dark blue and it will go duochrome insane!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYES! I have two Sally Hansen Nail Prisms - one is.. Purple Diamond (Purple with rainbow microglitter) and another is Amber/Amethyst, which is AMAZING. I miss them! I wish I had bought them all.
ReplyDeleteSeconding the poster above, layer this one over a dark and it will reward your efforts! I'm loving your duochrome posts though my wallet is a little annoyed. Keep up the lemming inducing work!
ReplyDeletevery pretty!
ReplyDeleteLike "Line" said above, layer it over black and you won't even believe it; the color totally changes. It turns into an insane purple and green duochrome.
ReplyDeleteI did find some of these at the Dollar Store. Love them. Now all the Dollar Store is selling is LA Girl.
ReplyDeleteLayer this over black! it's like beetle's wings.
ReplyDeleteI have amber ruby and three others. Found one of them in a clearance bin! Glad I picked them up. All these years later and they still wow me when I wear one. 8)
