Old Sally Hansens. What can I say? They're my weakness. Those bottles with their matching handles, that smelly Big 3 formula, the unusual, frequently duochrome colors... I love them. I collect them. I hunt for them. And this is one of my favorites.
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails in Chill Frost. I've been in the mood for colors that remind me of fall lately and I had to pull this one out and wear it. It's a warm, ruddy light brown... Or is it a burnt orange? Whichever it is, it's an orangey-browny-tan base with bright shiny green shimmer. The shimmer makes it look duochrome brown/green in some lights, but in other lights both the base and the shimmer colors are clearly visible all the time, no color shift. I love these ugly-pretty types of colors. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Perfectly smooth formula. Thin and glossy.

I absolutely agree with you - bring back the old SH! I love the weird colours, the prisms, and the general awesomeness of the 90s and early 2000s polish collections. This is such a bizarre, but cool colour. I love it when you show us your older stuff. :)
ReplyDeleteOMG! This is really something different, I belive you don't have any double of this one
ReplyDeleteSuch a gorgeous duochrome! Definitely loving the green shimmer.
ReplyDeletethat is a gorgeous shade... lately i've been gravitating to fall shades as well... it's my favorite season
ReplyDeleteSo pretty-I love burnt orange, browns greens etc> Can't wait for fall-am so over this heat
ReplyDeletei remember specifically one time in 1998 standing in front of the Sally Hansen section at the drug store. my 18 year old self really liked this crazy purple/green color, but, in an attempt to be more grown up, i chose mauve. if i could go back in time...
ReplyDeleteNow thats a cool polish
ReplyDeleteReminds me of Rimmel Potion.
ReplyDeleteI love these too! I picked up a bunch of them when they are at Dollar Tree. (It was a fun time grabbing all of them) :D
ReplyDeleteI can't decide whether I like this color or not. It reminds me of caramel.
ReplyDeletethis is totally gorgeous. i have a hard tie painting my nails cos they dont last long and sometimes they even chip before the end of the day but i still love nail polishes. even though my nails break and even become brittle.
ReplyDeleteBut this is a totally gorgeous colour.
I love it is so different :)
ReplyDeleteIt's so different and alternative to the usual and looks very glossy and smooth, shall have to look into these!
ReplyDeleteWhat an unusual color! It's not for me personally, but you rock it!
ReplyDeleteI love this! *off to eBay*
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see you post your collection of these - they aren't easy to find on the net and with names like "Chill Frost", it's hard to figure out what they look like! This one is awesome!! :D
This reminds me a bit to nubar - chocolate caramel... Am I wrong? Maybe... :P
ReplyDeleteHeidi, I love that you remembered that, thank you for sharing! I have lots of memories like that, haha :)
ReplyDeleteReecesPeeces, ooh, I don't think I've seen that one, now I have to track it down!
Megan, mmm, caramel.
Barby1923, sounds like you need a good basecoat and topcoat! You should try out a bottle of Gelous basecoat and Seche Vite topcoat from Sally Beauty!
Keerthi! Hey you!! <3
Normal Girl Nails, I have quite a few, I've been wearing them a lot more recently so I'll be posting pictures of more soon :)
Gnoma, yes, a little bit! Nubar isn't as green or as warm but has a similar color scheme and finish!
Thanks everyone :)
whoa, this is an awesome fall color! and speaking of...
ReplyDeletewhat do you recommend for fall? i've got a lot of summery colors from zoya, and some springy ones, but i have a coupon for two free polishes from zoya if i make a purchase... (and i'm thinking my purchase might be the dare collection, but i don't even know.) what's good for fall and winter? or are there just some must have zoyas? can you even pick a few favorites? it's like picking a favorite child...
i'm so overwhelmed by zoya, haha!
Absolut Law, really, every color in the Zoya Smoke collection is amazing for fall. Mirrors is good too, but Smoke really says 'fall' to me. Have you tried any of the smoky olive or brown shades from OPI, Zoya or China Glaze? Perfect earthy fall shades :)
ReplyDeleteAs far as must-have Zoyas, Valerie or Anastasia if you like purple, Harley if you like grey, anything from the Sparkle collection... Hard to choose, really :D
Do you know what it reminds me? Mac "Old Gold" pigment. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteWhy are brands releasing so few cool duochrome by now? I feel like they all belong to the past.
Like this polish. I don't own any of these oldies. I also like these type of shades.
ReplyDeleteI own this and adore it! You rock it like it was meant for you, doll! <3
ReplyDeleteLoving this one. It is so fall. It's in there (only better) than a few OPI ones I have that run along a similar shade line that I call my pumpkin hunting polish shades! This is a big time winner!
ReplyDeleteI want this real baydd... it hurts me, it really does. I might just have a quick look on ebay now...
ReplyDeleteThank you for this! I love colours like this and I'm horrified I didn't see this back in the day... I didn't even think they made colours like this back then!!!
