Okay, let's get the Star Wars reference out of the way first...
Now... let's get to it.
Revlon Carbonite. This is a dark grey silver with speckles of light silver, subtle gold and some darker charcoal accents. This was on its own display like Perplex was last year, so I assumed it was another Chanel dupe. I don't have Chanel Graphite to compare, but from the pictures of it I've seen, it's a lot more sparkly, flaky/pearly and multicolored than Carbonite. Carbonite is more of a dull brushed nickel looking polish whereas the swatches I've seen of Graphite are more of an iron pyrite grey/gold sparkle.
Anyone have both? Maybe I'll have to break down and spend too much on Graphite. I was hoping for a cheaper version of it, but maybe I just need to get the original.
The formula on this was surprisingly good. I normally have a lot of trouble with Revlon formula, but this was even, smooth and pigmented and it dried shockingly fast. Nothing at all like the Top Speed formula. The brush was also nicer than usual, but still super long and floppy.
I found mine at Meijer, all by itself on its own display. It wasn't in with the rest of the health and beauty items, it was in the middle of the store on a shelf with random new makeup items on it.

Loooooove.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the post! Can't wait to find this =]
ReplyDeleteI saw Stephscloset posted comparison swatches!
OMG I love it! x
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I'm not the only one who had a Han Solo moment when I heard the name of the color. I will probably get this, though I bought Black with Envy and have worn it exactly once. Maybe this week.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I need this just for the name! (Star Wars nerd here!) :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. I gave up buying Revlon polish years ago because they never wore well on me and I had huge coverage issues with them. Now days, no where around this little burg I live in has but a tiny few shades of Revlon - so my guess is they were not selling well - thus not allowing much space for their inventory anymore. But then we don't get Miliae and a ton of drug store brands. I have Graphite (one of only 4 times I have caved to Chanel polish) and yes, you are right, it's much different than this is...not a dupe or even a close attempt. This looks to me more like and older OPI called Silver Skates.
ReplyDeletethis is so pretty. i wish it was a dupe for graphite though... damn chanel and their insane prices
ReplyDeleteLove this! I wish it was a Graphite dupe though! Maybe someone else will come up with one.
ReplyDeleteUH-amazing!!! I may need this in my life. I've been looking for a true graphite shimmer and they always turn out frosty but this baby is just stunning!
ReplyDeleteWow! Love that color! It's really pretty! ^_^
ReplyDeleteThis isn't usually a color I go for, but...I have to get it for the Star Wars reference alone! LOL Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteHa! I put the same Han Solo picture up on my blog when I posted about this..
ReplyDeleteI think it's close enough to Graphite to satisfy a craving for it at 1/5th of the price. it is missing some gold glass flecks and the Chanel seems to reflect light slightly more, but I think it's a pretty good dupe - not perfect, but good.
Cutiegingerbread, oooh, going to her blog now! Don't know how I missed that! Love her!
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone! :D
LOL I just want it because it's called Carbonite. I'm so glad that you understand.
ReplyDeletelol! Love the photo;) Thanks for posting this!
ReplyDeleteHow does it compare to OPI Lucerne-tainly Look Marvelous?
ReplyDeleteHappytPumpkin, compared to the OPI, Carbonite is less sparkly, more warm toned (not as much blue in it as the OPI), more speckled looking and more opaque. The OPI seems less dense, more shiny/sparkly and lighter to me!
ReplyDeleteI really like this... I might have to pick one up.
ReplyDeleteOooh, this looks gorgeous I might have to go and buy this!
ReplyDeleteWow. This is amazing. Thank you for killing both my lemmings for Peridot and Graphite in one day. My wallet thanks you too!
ReplyDeleteI very nearly bought it to compare to my Graphite, but I talked myself out of it because I knew Graphite was much sparklier and I am not in need of any more backups, even of pretty Chanels. This reminded me more of that NYC Molten Metal color from a few years back, just a little more silvery. It's a good approximation if you don't feel you neeeeed the Chanel, but in this case I think the Chanel is legitimately more special.
ReplyDeleteGot to get this!
ReplyDeleteI just got done painting my nails with this and I LOVE IT!!!
ReplyDeleteTry it with China Glaze Whitecap over it, it looks a lot more like Graphite!!
ReplyDeleteI just bought this at Big Lots today for $1.50 because it is so pretty. Then I came home and looked it up. I think I can add ChG Fairy Dust on top to give it that bit of sparkle. This is a great color!
