Revlon Top Speed Violet and Royal
Here's a fun one... Two colors I really really love. In fact, these were the only two I picked up from the new Revlon Top Speed line. I still love that commercial, too. You know, the one where her nail polish keeps changing colors?
This one's called Violet.
This one is Royal.
The colors look truer in the bottles here:
But the whole "Top Speed Fast Dry" thing is a bit of a lie... For some reason, every time I wear either of these, they take forever to dry! I'm talking Barielle/Diamond dry times here.... Even with Seche Vite!
Oh, and the brushes... I hate the brushes... They're so floppy and horrible...
BUT! It doesn't matter to me because the colors are gorgeous.... I can deal with bad brushes and long dry time if the color is awesome enough. I just wish these could be the entire package: Good color, good formula and good brushes. Ah, well, can't win 'em all.
I love the colors (i have Royal), but I find the wear time to be horrible!!! I was chipped by the end of day one!!! That was with base and top coat! It was a super let down.
ReplyDeleteViolet looks really pretty :P I haven't tried any Revlon polishes before but I love the packaging of them Xx
ReplyDeleteViolet looks gorgeous! I detect a little bit of shimmer there, I think?
ReplyDeleteI have and love Royal (makes a great base for Lippmann Across the Universe too!) but OMG now I need Violet!
ReplyDeleteI saw the color cloud in that that brand that looks like a really cool color for spring but when i finally decided to get it they were sold out at wlarmart and walgreens :(
ReplyDeleteThey look really pretty - I've been so tempted by several of the Top Speed shades but have been holding back because I've heard the same thing about long dry times (and I'm a klutz so long dry time for me = ruined mani ;)).
ReplyDeleteEspecially loving Violet! I couldn't tell in the store that it had any shimmer to it! Now I REALLY want it!
<3
Violet. Love it. Curiously 'violet' is an anagram of 'love it'.
ReplyDeleteViolet caught my eye. I've seen Royal so much I'm kind of burnt out on it but Violet is soo pretty and unique.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Royal. I rarely get comments on the color of my polish (despite wearing tons of "crazy" colors") but I got like 4 compliments on this one. One guy said that he wanted to paint his car that color.
ReplyDeleteThose look great! I tend to stay away from Revlon, soley because I don't like their bottles....stupid reason, since I am prob missing out on some cool colors. Thanks for showing these!
ReplyDeleteWhy do all of my Revlon polishes bubble? Even these bubble. Am I doing something wrong here?
ReplyDeleteAs maybe the only guy who reads your blog, I say, right on sister!; to you, and your blog.
ReplyDeleteAnd for the record, some of us guys LOVE polish too.
My colors are silver, gold, copper, and lately, metallic green.
I am wearing the Revlon fast dry in Ocean today and OMG it sucks...and your are right the brush is awful :(. Although it's much better than the normal thin/stiff Revlon brush...
ReplyDeletealthough i love purple, here the blue one wins :-D
ReplyDeleteViolet is a lovely shade... I think they could have put a little more effort into naming these though :)
ReplyDeleteI do love Revlon polish. I guess I have a soft spot for Revlon polish. It was the first polish I ever bought. I haunted the aisles of the drugstores for new collections. These are two beautiful shades.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours!! How amazing there's no streaks! You must be really good at applying polishes:D
ReplyDeleteFast Dry formula that takes forever to dry! Just shows we cannot believe the labels. I stay away from Revlon due to it just does not last on me - chips horrible on fingers and wears right off my toes soon as I have any kind of wear against my shoe straps. But pretty colors these 2 are.
ReplyDeleteTo Damon - I hope you are not the only guy who reads this great blog! I know a lot of guys that wear polish, esp. on toes. Will watch for your contributions. I love all the colors you pegged as 'your' colors! I recommend if you like your metallic green to try a dark green cream - something along the lines of OPI - Here Today Aragon Tomorrow. I have done a # of guys toes in that with positive strokes of pleasure in response. Another that many like is from the OPI Swiss collection fall of 2010, something in the name about William Tell - I would have to do a search for my bottle or on line to find the full title.
I have royal but not violet. Both are beautiful!
ReplyDeleteAnd since I LOVE your blog so much, I am adding it to my blogroll :)
I have Royal and have gotten good results using it to do Konading.
ReplyDeleteI've got my eye on several of the new colors they just came out with, especially the periwinkle, but am trying to wait for a sale.
ReplyDeleteI think I have violet. Mmm, gotta use this soon!
ReplyDeleteOoO! I like Royal! Ive been looking for a pretty jelly-like blue and this may be the one! Never tried Revlon but theres a first for everything right?
ReplyDeleteGreat picks!
I have a serious love/hate relationship with the Top Speed polishes. They always look so wonderful, but the bad brush and chipping the next day really frustrate me. I love these, but I will have to pass.
ReplyDeleteI'm actually using Royal in my mani/pedi today. Beautiful color.
ReplyDeleteReally random combination I wanted to share with you. China Glaze's Zombie Zest over Essie's Pretty Edgy. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that this line has such gorgeous colors, because the formula does NOT make doing my nails an altogether enjoyable experience. :\ The two colors I bought (at a BOGO sale) both go on super streaky until the third coat, and get really tacky really quickly. And I get sheet lines even if I do my nails in the morning. But the colors themselves are BEAUTIFUL. I hope they continue to work on the formula.
ReplyDeleteI was considering Emerald or Electric, but now I'm tempted by Violet because of your swatches! Oh, decisions, decisions~
ReplyDeleteLove violet, beautiful colour!
