New Wet n Wild FastDry Nail Color Shades for 2011
Along with those awesome eyeshadow trios, Wet n Wild released some new shades of FastDry nail polish for the new year. Apparently, they re-used some names that they used for last fall's colors, but the shades aren't quite the same. I was mistaken in thinking that they were re-releases; I didn't buy any of the fall colors because they didn't look that interesting to me, but these shades are fantastic. These are the ones I chose (though they all looked great):
Blue Wants To Be A Millionaire? This is a really sheer blue holo. It's very pretty. It reminds me of the light blue Nubar holo Absolute. It's not a strong hologram finish, it's really delicate and light.
Buffy The Violet Slayer. Pretty much the best purple shimmer ever. My picture is nowhere near accurate; this is the craziest, prettiest, most vibrant violet-purple color. You really need to see it in real life, it's amazing. Look at the shadow on the bottom half of the bottle, that's much closer to the actual color. It's not blue toned like it looks here. It glows.
Gray's Anatomy. Practically an exact replica of Lippmann's Wicked Game. It's a multichromatic shade that flashes grey, green, purple, blue and silver. It's a little frosty, but since it's a duochrome, I can ignore that.
Hannah Pinktana. Really? That's the name they chose for this one?! There was no other television series title they could have worked the word pink into? Silly name aside, this is another sheer, delicate holographic finish but in a shade of mauve-pink. This one is a little too sheer for me, but it sure looks pretty in the bottle. Maybe I could franken it with something to make it less sheer.
Party Of Five Glitters over Buffy The Violet Slayer. This one was a little too sheer to wear alone. It's a combination of large and small hexagonal glitter in shades of silver, pink, red, green... wait... is there one more shade in there? That's only four! Maybe there's some blue, I can't tell. This one was rather hard to apply, the clear base is thick and the glitter is sparse, kind of a difficult combination.
SaGreena The Teenage Witch. Oh man, these names are killing me! But this is a rather nice shade of green. It's a medium emerald green shimmer, bordering on frost. It's a little more sheer than I prefer, but it's not bad at all.
The formula on these is just okay. It's a little inconsistent, a little runny/goopy in some shades and some of the colors are a little sheer. It's not terrible but it's not the best. The bad part is the brush- it's slanted! Very odd brush. Not my favorite. I think they might need to re-think the brush design on these. The drying time is good on all of these, so no problems there.
One of these days I might pick up the rest of the colors, but these were the ones that interested me the most. There was this gorgeous gold glass fleck that looked really nice.
I'm continually impressed with Wet n Wild's new products. Really happy about the prices, too!
I love how they picked TV shows from the early 90's for their names. Who even remembers that stuff now? (Except for me...but I'm old.)
ReplyDeleteThe colors look great...but you can literally make any nail polish look awesome. I was staring at them in Walgreens the other day...I'll have to check some out. Now if only they could keep those BIG eyeshadow palettes in stock!
I have Hannah Pinktana, Teal or No Teal and Grey's Anatomy. My Hannah Pinktana doesn't look pink at all! Mine is very much purple, which is why the name perplexed me. I found it to be sheer as well. Did you consider yours "fast-dry"ing? Mine dried in about the same time as a regular polish.
ReplyDeleteAll the polishes look fantastic on your beautiful nails!! :)
I bought like three nail polishes from them and they chip really fast. Do these last longer than a day?
ReplyDeleteI agree with Concertina that you can make any nail polish look great!
ReplyDeleteI have a question, please. How does Party of Five compares to Deborah Lippmann's Happy Birthday?
Concertina, haha, thanks! I remember all those shows too :) Sabrina was the only one I watched! And I still haven't seen those big palettes yet, boo!
ReplyDeleteNeutraKris, that's so weird, mine is pink but it's definitely more of a murky-mauve pink than a petal pink. No, I didn't find them fast drying at all, the name is deceptive!
Angelica, I don't seem to have any problems with them. I wore Buffy for a few days in a row, it chipped a little after three days and then I removed it. That's pretty close to average for me!
NailBound, awe, thanks :) I don't think Party of five compares at all. Similar idea (large hex glitter) but the colors, density and overall look are completely different. Sorry :(
Nice green and violet there. Silly names though lol. Do you think the glitter would look good if it was applied in a few coats?
ReplyDeleteI just purchased Party of 5 glitters...mines a little thick too. Nothing some thinner can't fix. I must get grey's anatomy!
ReplyDeleteToo funny. Speaking of Wet n Wild's eye trio's. I read your blog about them, told my daughter about them and the next two days were spent going to all the stores in our town that sell that brand to make sure she had "all palettes" I must admit I was impressed as well. Who ever would have thought? I liked Mary Kate and Ashley's cream shadows, they are now gone so am still looking for something. Thanks to you, my daughter is making me sit through another of her "All evening try all the eyeshadow on Mom night."
ReplyDeleteI think I need Buffy the Violet Slayer.
ReplyDeletei bought almost all of them and it took me hours to capture buffy the violet slayer and i almost got it!!! also did you see the actually "new" sinful colors!? i found 4 new sinfuls and theres a deep green you would absolutely love!!! someone found a yellow so as of now there 5 known new ones!
ReplyDeleteI love Blue Wants To Be A Millionaire? How can you go wrong with these prices!
ReplyDeleteoh WOW!! These are AMAZING! I better pick some up.
ReplyDeletelovely colours, how many coats were they?
ReplyDeleteI want Gray's and Po5. I wonder if this will be part of their permanent line?
ReplyDeleteThe first and 3 color are really pretty a shame in the uk they do not sell wet and wild:)
ReplyDeleteLove Gray's Anatomy and Buffy the Violet Slayer. Just gorgeous and I'll have to go look for them!
ReplyDeleteomg i'ma need buffy the voilet slayer in my life asap!
ReplyDeleteThat "gorgeous gold glass fleck" is The Gold and The Beautiful and it really is a gorgeous gold polish. The shade is similar to Orly Glitz & Glamour from the Tis The Season holiday collection but it's not a total dupe. I was really impressed with all the different shades of gold in the super sparkly glass fleck finish, really gorgeous! 9.0.2.1.Orange has a similar finish - it's a pretty tangerine orange with a lot of gold sparkle in the finish. You might need to pick these up. They're really awesome! Other than these two you posted all of my favorites from the collection. These are some really fun polishes for a really great price. I agree about the brush - it's horrible. :(
ReplyDeleteI ended up picking all of the new Fastdrys up - I'm really very happy with almost all of them. Wet 'n Wild is definitely stepping up their game. I got all of the new eye shadow trios too and can't believe how great the quality is. Thank you so much for reviewing them! :)
I just bought Blue wants to be a millionaire today, and man it's gorgeous. And yes, their prices kick ass!
ReplyDeleteDo you think Gray's Anatomy/Lippmann's Wicked Game is similar to Zoya Adina or Sinful Colors Let Me Go? They both have a light purplish base, but it has more of a blue/green duo to it (Adina has more green I think)...but I could be wrong, I'm just getting into polish and am not sure I'm describing correctly...
