Borghese Almondine... What do you think?

I'm not that much of a nude/neutral polish wearer (except for the funky ones like Rescue Beauty Lounge Grunge), but for some reason this shade really caught my eye. It's Borghese Almondine.

It's a creamy, putty-like, nude-ish beigey funky kinda color (Mmm, creamy... soft creamy beige!) with little metallic microglitter particles. It's a really unusual color, sort of like a fleshy nude version of Zoya Harley. And I love looking at it in the bottle.... but I'm not so sure about it when it's actually on me.

Is it funky and pretty, or is it washed out and creepy? I can't decide. Yay or nay?

  3. I don't think it's for me. But you look great with it. And I love your nails!!! *bows to you*

  4. It's not really my kind of color. And it kinda reminds me of Silly Putty that got bits of grit stuck in it.

  5. I love it.
Actually I bought this during a blog sale, but it never got here... le sigh. :/

  6. Definitely a yay for me! I think it looks fabulously unusual. =)

  7. It would bug the ever-lovin'-crap out of me to wear it, but it is actually very flattering on your hands. Then again... I haven't seen much that isn't flattering to your hands. LOL! I guess it boils down to: if you decide you like it, you can definitely wear it well!

  8. I've wanted this color for the longest time... It's like oatmeal for my nails with a slight pink shine. Yummm...

  9. Without the glitter, I wouldn't like it. With the glitter, it makes it a little bit different and fun.

  10. I found your blog today while searching about Lincoln Park After Dark in suede, and everything I have seen so far from you is great. And now I see your subtle reference to the Mighty Boosh and Ol' Gregg.. I officially *heart* you, Scrangie. :)

  11. Yay! I think it's tres chic.

  12. not a big fan of nude nail polish or pinks, but this one is cute!

  13. Are Borghese nail polishes good? how long do they last? they're like 12.99 or 13.99 at shoppers here at Canada.

  14. It's a 'yea' from me, I think it's very flattering on you :)

  15. This is one of my biggest lemmings right now, and I can't find it anywhere. It looks great on you!

  16. Every once in awhile a neutral polish will catch my eye too... Love this one, it's really nice!

  17. Reminds me of OPI You're A Doll. A polish I'm very fond of as a matter of fact...

  18. i actually really like it. it probably wouldn't work on my skin tone but it's really rockin' on you. reminds me of almond butter. mmmm.

  19. i kinda like it. it probably wouldn't work with my skin tone but it's really rockin on you. reminds me of almond butter. mmm

  20. Undecided...on me that is. It looks good on you but I don't think it will be on me.

  21. I really like it, although I think you would have to have the right skin tone. It looks good on your nails though.

  22. I don't have many nudes, but this is the kind I like: kinda warmer than the usual pink with a twist to it. It strongly reminds me of OPI "You're a Doll" which is my favourite nude ever. And I like it on your hands

  23. i like the base color, but the glitter is weird looking, i'd say it's a no

  24. I really like this color, it's nice and neutral but also a little different.

    ReplyDelete
  25. AHHhhhh I need this SO badly! I love it, and it looks fabulous on you! Where did you manage to find it?

    ReplyDelete
  26. How does it compare to OPI you're a doll, that has kind of the same look?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, it does look very pretty! But I think I like it better in the bottle.

  28. I love micro particles!

And it looks good on you! Yay...

  29. To me, it looks bland. Nudes definitely have their place but I think this shade is dead looking (and not in a cool goth way)

  30. Definitely funky and pretty, IMO! In fact, I'm really wanting to try it out myself now, but a little afraid it might be weird looking against my nearly unpigmented skin. But not afraid enough that I won't give it a try!!! ;-D

I'm what used to be commonly referred to (and still is, just that not as many people know what it means - seems like it was a term from my parents generation and earlier that didn't carry on down) as "black Irish", complete with the super, super pale skin, freckles, light blue-gray eyes, freckles, and (naturally, anyway), very dark brown (about 2 strokes from true, jet black) hair. Think of Alec Baldwin before he started to gray (and with a little lighter complexion) and you've got classic black Irish at it's best. :)

  31. I'm not really in love with it but I DO find it very unique. I can see the appeal but it wouldn't be for me at all.

  32. It made my nails look dirty. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I really like it, the glitter adds enough of a kick to make it not bland - one of the rare nudes I would probably wear!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I like it.
my fave nude polish is "grunge" by RBL, too (and I'm wearing it right now as I'm typing, lol), but I also like other nude polishes.
I have ordered the entire collection of the misa 9-5 polishes and I own several nude polishes from essie and artdeco and OPI, though all in all, I am a blue-lover.

I love blue - and especially turqouise and sky-blue - over all colors and I often wear blue nailpolish.
And purple and greyed out purple and green :-D but I also have a thing for nude polishes, as long as they are opaque.

  35. I love neutrals/nudes, so Almondine is a definite yes for me. I don't own it but wish I could find it locally.

  36. Funky and pretty, for sure. I like nude polishes with glitter.

  37. LOVE LOVE LOVE... but count me as biased because i'm wearing it right now lol!! The flash of pink shimmer had me at hello lol <3

I am very curious to see how close it is to one of the new Misa Wishes polishes... the genie one maybe?

  38. I WANT IT! :P Yay Yay Yay! I'm going shopping!

  39. Ooh I LOVE it!! I think I need it now :)

  40. I happened across a Borghese Fashionista display by chance not realizing my luck and picked up Stellare Notte (now perm) and Almondine. I never buy neutrals. I never wear neutrals. They just don't appeal to me. But something about Almondine made me buy it. I couldn't resist the peculiar iridescence, the lavender glow coming from this rich almond shade. The nearly microscopic amethyst particles in the bottle sealed the purchase. It was so unusual! I ran home to swatch and fell in love with it. When I went back the next day for a back up bottle the entire display was empty except for two dark purples. I'm so glad I decided to get Almondine. It gives me a strange mannequin hand when I wear it.

  41. ... What I loved most about this post was your Old Gregg reference. Haha~ <3

  42. OMG I bought this at ROSS like a month ago and finally tried it. I love the way it looked in the bottle but on my nails, it looks naked! I'm a NC44 by the way. I topped it off with OPI Black Shattered. I think it looks better in the bottle. I'm not a big fan of "naked" nails

  43. Anybody know how this compares to Essie Mochachino? Looks similar from what I can tell, but I've only seen Mochachino in the bottle.

    ReplyDelete
  44. nay. it looks like chewed bubblegum, and like its a color that gets dirty quickly.

    ReplyDelete
  45. i'm kicking myself for passing this up at a Ross store. it's kind of ugly-pretty and gets points for uniqueness and edibile-looking factor

    ReplyDelete
  46. Yay. It's one of those polishes that rewards closer inspection--looks like a "normal" neutral at first glance but is more complicated than that.

    ReplyDelete
  47. There was a lot of fuss about this when it first came out, but I've seen it both on sale and at Ross, so it must be one of those ones where it's more of a taste thing than anything else.

I don't mind it, I've got a ton of nudes, so I passed when I saw it on sale.

  48. I am absolutely in love with this color but cannot find it. :( Do you know of any dupes?
