Another layering combination with OPI Black Shatter that I really liked.
OPI Black Shatter over Color Club Jackie OH!. I love the combination of the neon with the black on top, it makes the neon look so much brighter. This reminds me of lava. If you have a neon pink or orange, you have to try this, it looks so cool in real life. I've noticed that my Black Shatter always crackles into vertical stripes... that's odd. I want some more random square chunks to happen when it crackles... The kind that make it look like a giraffe pattern... How do I get it to do that?

Don't apply too thick a coat!
ReplyDeleteand you can try applying the Black Shatter diagonally too!
Another trick I've learnt..don't apply black shatter over the entire nail! do it in alternate stripes!
hope that helps!
I love this combo! very cool!
ReplyDeleteBrush shatter on horizontally or diagonally. It looks awesome--also in big blobs that touch.
ReplyDeleteI've heard that you can apply it sideways to get it to crack horizontally. I haven't tried it out yet, but I hope this helps! :)
ReplyDeleteHeehee
ReplyDeleteI did some magma action - http://www.emybloom.com/2010/08/12/red-hot-magmah-notd/ with the crackle we had in Sweden last year. I love crackle polishes so much!
Varying the amount you use (less seems to make more cracks), and putting it on in 2 stages can help to break it up more.
Ooh, thanks for the tips, everyone! I'm going to have to try that!
ReplyDeleteMy best tip is to use the China Glaze Ruby Slippers under the crackle polish...that's my fav combo of all times. Killer. Yours looks pretty wicked too!
ReplyDeletegreat combo! I read somewhere that how thinner you apply the crackle topcoat, how more crackles there will be. So maybe do a thinner coat next time? :)
ReplyDeleteLOVE!! Now...if I could just find some...
ReplyDeleteAaaaahhh....SCRANGIE! All your posts of Black Shatter make me want it more and more, but I'm still waiting for it to be in stock. TORTURE! (Hehe...love your swatches)

Love that combo!! Can't wait to have it in store here!! Torture!
ReplyDeleteWOW!
ReplyDeletelove it.
Great for summer.
I love it! Last year I wore this combination of pink with black on top of it. I like how the pink starts to shine =D
ReplyDeleteWow, that looks great! I'm a newbie when it comes to nail polish. Can anyone please recommend a really good clear topcoat? I've been using Seche Vite but I don't like the way it shrinks as it dries. What's the best clear topcoat out there? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you pain horizontally it will crack differently. When I have to dab missed areas I notice it crackles in a different pattern.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are putting swatches of the black crackle with different colors layered. It is so gorgeous. I purchased it a few days ago and have tried it already with 5 other colors. I must comment that your eyes and eye makeup always look so professional. Keep up the good work. My friend, Samma told me about your blog. She linked me to you and I have been watching for any new articles and going over all of your older postings. Good job on your nail work as well. When someone makes a comment you don't like ignore them. Let the haters keep hating. You and I know you are doing an excellent job.
ReplyDeleteI love these two colors together. I have used my new crackle a lot lately. I love your articles/blogs and have spent the better part of today reading your older postings. I am addicted to make up and nail polish. I want every color of polish and every brand of make up. Your blogs tell me what to buy. I must also say your eyes are incredible. You do your make up gorgeous. Your eyelashes are outstanding. Jealousy.
ReplyDeleteOh god! Ive been dying to get my hands on those np!
ReplyDeleteI was so resistant of the crackle but I keep seeing swatches like this and I'm breaking down....I have so many bright colors that I must admit would look cool under it.
ReplyDeleteDarn it.
I've yet to buy this. I have to remedy it soon. Love this with the neon shade.
