I've been complaining that almost none of the recent collections have really excited me very much and saying how much I hope someone would release a collection that totally thrills me... I think this might be it! I've had these for a couple weeks now and I'm still giddy every time I look at them!
Now that it's fall my lighting situation has been less than ideal. I've had to re-do these twice and still I'm not happy with how they look. That warm autumn sunset light does not make for pretty pictures. I apologize in advance for the gross lighting but I've tried to take more pictures to make up for it.
Here we go. Fire and Ice.

There are two distinct finishes in this collection: foil and sparkle.

These are the foil shades. If you're unfamiliar with a foil finish, a foil is made up of tiny smooth metallic particles and they combine on the nail to create a sparkly metal effect. They're reflective and smooth, they don't show brushstrokes and they look just fine without topcoat. The foils in Fire and Ice are all multi-tonal- you can see lots of iridescent color when you wear them. Top notch, very complex.
The sparkles: Lisa, Valerie, Sarah.

And these are the sparkles. If you have the Zoya Sparkle collection from this summer you'll be familiar with Zoya's sparkle finish. It's glittery, but not in a traditional glitter type of way. Traditional glitter is a very defined particle, usually round or hexagon shaped, made of plastic with shiny coating. They almost always have texture in a polish- think Zoya Roxy, OPI Absolutely Alice or China Glaze Atlantis. But the glitter in the sparkle finish polishes is a smooth shiny pearl particle- almost like tiny glass beads embedded in the polish. They don't have much of a texture and won't feel bumpy like a traditional glitter particle. I'm not sure what exactly they're made of but they make me think of glass or crystal.
The formula on these was great. The sparkle shades were nearly one-coaters, extremely opaque. The foil shades were more on the sheer side and needed two coats. I did two coats of everything. The sparkles dry to a dull finish so topcoat is a must (topcoat is a must regardless, though!). The foils dry glassy even without topcoat. Application is smooth and even. Drying time is good. Removal isn't difficult but you'll likely be left with some sparkly stuff on your fingers afterward.
Overall, this is a kick-ass collection. I crave sparkles. I love every single color and I'd wear them all. Obviously, Valerie is my favorite. These are nice winter shades, icy blue and festive red, but no reason at all you couldn't wear them year round. I think Tiffany is actually a nice beachy looking shade for summer. All the shades are packed with life and sparkle and magic and they make me want to stare at my fingertips all day. Distracting!

Love them all! Especially Valerie and Sara(h)!
ReplyDeleteYay a polish w/ my name :P A shame it's red...Pretty, but not what I would've wanted hehe!
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I may be getting all of these, maybe I'll set Lisa aside...Don't know yet!
you have no idea how excited I was to see these swatches! I love every single color in this collection, this might just be my favorite Zoya collection of all time actually...I'm especially in love with Valerie...just so amazingly pretty *drools*
ReplyDeletelove this! I just got my zoya Mimi.. and now there's Valerie! oh my...
ReplyDeleteI know exactly what you mean and i agree... These Zoyas really blow a lot of recent collections out of the water! My Zoya wish list has been exploding this past year or so.
ReplyDeleteI want everyone of them! Thanks for great swatches!
ReplyDeleteI checked with Zoya the other day and it's supposed to be Sarah. The early bottles were accidentally printed without the H but all new bottles will have the H on them.
ReplyDeleteOne word: BRAVO!
ReplyDeleteZoya rocks my socks.
great swatches! the autumn light indeed sucks...but at this point i am happy with any light (fog here for 2 straight days ieeeee)
ReplyDeletewhen is the release of this sparkly goodness??
Good morning Scrangie
ReplyDeleteWOW WOW, Sara/h, Valerie my life is incomplete without you guys!!
Sara/h may you take off Ruby pumps' pole position as my favorite polish?????
This is an amazing collection. I'm dying for it! I love all of these. When are they available for purchase???
ReplyDeleteSara(h) and Valerie. So gorgeous! Although I have dozens of purples and reds, these ones look like must-haves.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous nail polishes! But I hate looking at this blog... it makes me want to buy every nail polish!!! lol
ReplyDeleteFNNNGH, WANT! I've yet to pull the trigger on a Zoya polish, partly because I've heard they chip horribly if you don't use the color lock system, and I'm reluctant to buy an all new base and top coat to use with a partiuclar brand.
ReplyDeleteIs this true, polish sensei? I'm quite faithful to CND Stickey + Seche Vite.
Awesome-ness! I've added a few of these to my list!
ReplyDeleteWOOT WOOT! This is such an amazing collection and I can't wait to get Valerie! AHHH I love zoya. Thanks for the amazing swatches scrangie. You're my inspiration :)
ReplyDeleteI am in love with the foil finishes! I love metallics & sparkles so it looks like those two got together & had a baby! Thanks for explaining what it is so I know what I like! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for also explaining how Valerie is different from Mimi. I may wait to get it and work on adding new colors to my collection. I think Tiffany is my favorite.
One word for this ENTIRE collection: NEED!!! It's rare that I drool over a whole collection, but this is one I'm happy with every single one. I am going to order this sooner rather than later!
ReplyDeleteWelp...there goes my no-buy promise....
ReplyDeleteMy Zoya shopping cart is growing by leaps and bounds :)
I pretty much love every color... Tiffany is my favorite as I'm addicted to peach tones atm!
ReplyDeleteThe only one I'm dying to get my hands on is Valerie. Whoa, that's an amazing purple!
ReplyDeleteI like Gloria. Valerie is just soooooooooooo amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love every single one!So much for that no-buy I was planning!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. That sound was glorious.
ReplyDeleteI love these and just ordered all of them. I hope Sarah is actually Sara...I want my name to be a Zoya polish!
ReplyDeleteUmmm...yeah, I have to have Valerie. Great swatches!
ReplyDeleteHeehee I loved the sound too. Each and every one of these is absolutely exquisite & I must have each one of these. Ahhhh heaven....
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tempting swatches (as usual). I have 4 spoons on the way :)
ReplyDeleteA bit of an off-topic question: have you ever tried Qtica/Zoya Solid Gold Cuticle Oil Gel? If so, what is your opinion?
Thank you in advance,
Inna
Did you see that it on Zoya's website now they are calling it "Flame" instead of "Fire and Ice"? I bought the entire collection and they are marvelous!
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate when you tell that they were sent to you for reviews. It's honest and shows respect to your readers. Way to go!
