Okay, here's the Shrek. And I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Okay, no, it's not really a secret... But I've never seen Shrek. I saw part of it while getting a pedicure at a salon ages ago... But I've never seen the whole thing or any of the sequels. Why is it that every time a polish company does a movie or TV show themed collection it's never something I've seen? No big deal... I'm not really into TV or mainstream movies, so it's understandable.
Now that my train of thought has totally derailed.... What was I going to say? I don't remember. Here's some swatches.
Fiercely Fiona. Wow, what an unusual color! It's this odd murky yellow with a bit of spring green mixed in... It's light and it's a creme and I just keep thinking, wow, this does not seem like a typical OPI color. That's not a bad thing, it's just... so.. different! Weird even!
Funkey Dunkey. Funkey Dunkey??? Rich purple creme. Nice and opaque. It seems to be in the same family as Rescue Beauty Lounge Mismas and China Glaze Grape Pop.
Ogre The Top Blue. I've got an Ogre-Slaying Knige! It's got a +9 against ogres! Bright medium blue creme. Very pretty. I like how these blues look on me. Don't know if it's super unique but I love it anyway.
Rumple's Wiggin'. I have no idea what that means but it sounds funny. This is a very light pale purple creme- lavender pastel might be more accurate. It's a little bit like the Spring Illamasqua lavender... Wink? Caress? I can't remember the name. It's one of those, you know which ones I'm talking about?
What's With The Cattitude? This one so needs a lolcat to go with it. Anyway. Pastel blue. Looks brighter and more opaque in this picture than it looks to me in real life. It's more whitish and almost jelly finish to my eye. Honestly, I had a tough time applying this one, it was uncharacteristically streaky and unwieldy for an OPI.
Who The Shrek Are You? Haha! I like that name. This is a bright pea green. Slime green? OH OH I KNOW! It's chartreuse! I don't get to use that word often and it's a shame cause it's an awesome name for a color. Chartreuse. Just rolls off the tongue.
Formula was a little inconsistent on these. The non-pastels were fantastic but the pastels gave me a little trouble. They seem like the old OPI 3-free formula. Are they tweaking the formula again? OPI is usually so consistent and reliable for me. Other than the slight thickness and streakiness of the pastel shades, the polish was great. Very good dry time and all dried to a very glossy finish without topcoat. The Pro-Wide brush doesn't seem as wide in these for some reason. I need to compare. It seems smaller.
Overall, whoa, what an unexpected collection! Murky yellow greens? I really didn't see that coming at all. Pretty cool though. I'm a fan of 'un-pretty' shades so I was happy to see these murky slime greens. Glad there's no pink here! Oh, hey, I just realized that. No pink and no red! I'm shocked! Go OPI! I knew you could do it. A collection of green blue and purple! I just wish the shades were more unique- Fiercely Fiona is the only one that doesn't remind me of anything. I'm sure there has to be a similar shade, I just can't think of one.
(These were sent to me for review.)
Love the purples and the blues. The greens aren't for me. Thanks for the great swatches!
ReplyDeleteThanks for swatching these! Who the Shrek are You? reminds of Misa Green with Envy, which I already have. The blues are gorgeous, and I will probably get them, along with Fiona because it is so weird. And, I totally agree - no reds or pinks!!! Go Suzi!
ReplyDeleteOkay, you can go back to posting random swatches now...:P
Great Swatches liek always. Can´t wait for my polishes to come!
ReplyDeleteI'm working on those swatches too and I started on the WWTC? and RW. WWTC was about 4 coats but the wear was AWESOME. 4 days = NO TIP WEAR!!! Not so much for the RW. I can't wait to get to the non-pastels for ease of application.
ReplyDeletenice post i already have grape pop so the dark blue is my only want out of that collection did you shorten your nails see you thought we werent paying attention!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad you swatched these...When I first saw the ad for them I was so excited about these colors...but now I see they are not all that great...I'll get them for my niece
ReplyDeleteoh wow! dont think much to the greeny wierd colours, but i need to add that lavender to my other 50! x
ReplyDeleteI really love the two blue shades -- I wasn't so sure about the bright green, but then I realized that it will look perfect with a navy outfit I've got. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBTW, is anybody going to have anything to say about OPI and etailers? I can understand OPI's position and their need to satisfy the salons, but I am going to be forced to cut back on the number of polishes I would have bought. I had actually wanted to pick up on a few from the Hong Kong collection when I bought these, and I ended up not doing that because I didn't want to spend so much.
I'm dyinggg to get this collection. I never saw any of the shrek movies either until I saw the broadway show (unfortunely it closed down but it was amazing) and now I love the movies
ReplyDeleteYeah, Wink. Wink is the lavender Illamasqua. These are interesting! I might get the darker blue one. Thanks for the swatches!
ReplyDeleteHow do you always make all polishes look so much better than everyone else? :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Fiercely Fiona. I'm wearing it right now! It makes me think of avocados (the inside, of course.) It's like, pale avocado? I love yellow greens and green yellows. I of course had to have the Shrek and Fiona colors the second I saw them! I also picked up Ogre-the-Top blue, but I'm not sure how it will work on me. Blue+ my pale but warm skin tone usually= EWWWW.
ReplyDeleteOoh, I've been off the OPPI bandwagon for a while now, but I think these colours may just pull me back in!
ReplyDeleteWhere are the cheetos? Has anyone see the mountain dew?
ReplyDeleteLove that you're a game nerd, Scrangie. :D
Ugh I need the chartreuse, lilac and darker purple :(
ReplyDeleteI've never seen any Shrek movies either, believe-it-or-not, so I don't know what the nail polish names mean, but I absolutely love this OPI collection.
ReplyDeleteI've also never seen Alice in Wonderland, so those polish names didn't make that much sense to me either, but I love the glitters! In fact, I actually thought for a long time that Alice in Wonderland was called Alison Wonderland, I swear!
Thanks for such good swatches, as per usual :)

ReplyDeleteBwhahahah! "No, you're not there, you're getting drunk!" "Cool! Are there girls there!?"
I've ordered Funky Dunkey... heh.. looks GORGEOUS on you...
ReplyDeleteYou seriously have the best nails on the net.
Many thanks for another great post.

OK you guys definitely need to see the Shrek movies! They're so funny! I'm generally not an animated film kind of gal but these are ones I'd watch over and over, by myself! Gotta see them!
ReplyDelete<3, Me
I tried to find "ogre the top blue", but it is becoming a hard color to find, must be beautiful in person!
ReplyDeleteI've only seen the first two Shreks, because I was forced. I fell asleep on the third one. They suck, sorry. Anyway, I love Fiercly Fiona!
