You will never guess what happened to me this morning!!!
I was just finishing up a manicure with the most beautiful nail polish I've ever seen, Sation Chill Factor: 
...When all of a sudden, I noticed it was taking on a blue-ish cast! I took off my polish, thinking it was a weird reaction with Seche Vite, only to find that it was my nails turning blue!! That's when I realized what was happening. I thought it was only an old wives tale, but it's true; my nails were suffocating because I wore polish for too long. Panic set in. What should I do?? Blow on them? But before I could administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation they had all fallen off. I can't believe it! They were right! Your nails really do need to breathe, or else they can suffocate and DIE! Don't be a fool like I was, listen to your nails when they're gasping for air and TAKE OFF YOUR POLISH!!! Nails are people too. They need air just like the rest of us.

ReplyDeleteI do let my nails 'breathe' in between manicures. I find the skin underneath the nail goes white if I wear it too long. I just leave polish off for a couple hours for the pink to return to my nailbeds then put the polish back on.

My sister the hairdresser told me I had left on polish with all those bad chemicals on too long and it was drying out the nail. So now only DBP free polish on my poor toe nails.
