I know, I really dropped the ball on these. I should have had them posted ages ago. I had a really off week. It happens to everyone once in a while. Well, here they are now, better late than never, and to make up for it I have a special surprise at the end!
TRUTH
Anaka. Shimmery dark pink. This color is ridiculously pretty. I don't even like pink and I love this. It's on the darker side as far as pinks go, but it has so much depth and shimmer that I can't stop looking at it. It has little golden and slightly iridescent flecks and also a very faint blue reflection. Unusual choice for fall, but I'm not complaining.
Drew. Soft mauve pink shimmer. This one feels a little more fall-like! It's a greyed-out medium pink, I'm calling it mauve. We used to have carpet this color in the 80's. You may think that's a bad thing, but it's the opposite- I like it because it reminds me of those happy memories.
Isla. Blackened red shimmer. Whoa. When I first saw the promo pics and color chips for this, I was thinking... Oh joy, another red shimmer. But wow! I didn't expect it to be this hot. It's one of those reds that looks black on the edges and bright in the middle. I love colors like that. Surprise favorite for me.
Kalmia. Red and gold shimmer. I don't know if I can truly call this copper, but it's sort of coppery looking. Very metallic. Not quite rose gold, not really copper... It's more of a red-gold fusion. Unlike most metallic shades, this one doesn't show brushstrokes.
Penny. Golden metallic shimmer. Since this is called Penny, I feel like I should be calling it copper, but it looks more gold to me. A warm, orangey gold. It's bright and shiny, also very metallic and it shows a little bit of brushstroke but nothing major.
Salma. Red shimmer. This is a loght warm red, almost kind of orange looking. This is probably the most fall-like shade for me, it reminds me of maple leaves changing colors and gently floating to the ground.
DARE
Ciara. Warm red-purple creme. This is a bit softer and more purple in real life. All of these Dare colors were so hard to capture! Reddish purple creme. Pretty straightforward.
Demi. Medium purple creme. I love this!! This color also looks different in real life. It's a fantastic purple creme, but it's a little more dusty looking and it's a lot richer and deeper. Photographing these was more difficult than I anticipated!
Envy. Blackened green creme. Wow. Seriously. Wow. Deep, dark, leafy green. Like the forest at night. Beautiful. It has a slight amount of shimmer that is really only barely visible in very bright light. I'm declaring it a creme for sanity's sake. It also has this interesting textured look- like there's a bunch of little green spheres in a green base.
Ibiza. Shimmering midnight blue. Dark, velvety, mysterious. This is a very dark blue, not quite black-looking but pretty much as dark as blue can be before it looks black. It has a little bit of soft shimmer to keep it interesting.
Pinta. Dark purple creme. This picture isn't even remotely color accurate. I couldn't capture the purple color of this polish at all. I'm only posting it here so the set of pictures can be complete. In real life, this isn't blue. It's purple. Deep, dark, sexy purple. It is gorgeous. You might just have to see it for yourself because I don't know if I'll be able to keep it from turning blue in pictures.
Vanessa. Deep berry creme. This is darker in real life. This is a straight up, no-frills berry creme. Not much else to say about it! Reminds me of Moxie.
I didn't expect Dare to be such a challenge to photograph! All of the colors kept changing on me! If I can get better pictures, I will. But, at least between my bottle and swatch Dare pictures you can get a general idea of what they look like.
Anyway. Formula was good on these. Very good. Smooth, even-textured, not thick or runny. They didn't give me any application problems at all. The opacity was great, almost all of them were two-coaters, but I did three on everything just to see how they looked that way. The polish itself is perfect. The only thing that gave me a hard time were the brushes- all of the brushes in these seem to be cut at an angle... almost in a V shape... I'm thinking they got a bad batch of brushes, because I've never had problems with Zoya brushes before. They normally fit my nails like a glove and give me perfect coverage, but these made me have to actually pay attention to how I used them.
My favorites from these collections are Anaka, Isla, Demi, Envy and Pinta. Anaka and Isla really surprised me, they were totally unexpected but entirely gorgeous on the nails. Demi and Pinta are perfect purple cremes, and there are not enough good purple cremes in the universe. Envy... do I really have to say anything about Envy? It's dark green. It's fan-freakin'-tastic!!!
So, now for the surprise!
These polishes aren't available until July 15th, but Zoya and I are giving you a chance to get your hands on them before they're released! You'll be the only one besides the media to have them!
I have a full set of Truth and Dare polishes up for grabs. That's the entire fall collection, all twelve polishes. Starting from right now until noon Central on Friday, you can enter your name and email for a chance to win both sets before they're released. I'm leaving this open for everyone, both US and International.
The winner will be drawn at random. Good luck!! :D
My favorites are your favorites! Those are just the ones I want to get: Pinta, Envy, Demi, Isla and Anaka. You changed my mind on Truth. I didn't think I would get any of them. I was wrong!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post!
:c)
I love the same ones you do Plus Drew (surprisingly). Awesome contest!! Your pics always make me want more than I thought I would. I only thought I would want Pinta and Envy.
ReplyDeleteThank you!!
I kinda like Demi and Envy in your pics... The others are pretty on you, but they don't really make me run around in circles ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Scrangie. Gorgeous swatches (as usual!) How similar is Ibiza to Blue Satin?
ReplyDeleteENVY. That color is so true to the name. I would be envy of anyone who has it. I love the purple cremes, Pinta and Demi too.
ReplyDeleteI mean envious of anyone who has it. Darn it! I'm supposed to be good at English.
ReplyDeleteBased on your swatches, I think I like Truth more than I thought I would, Dare, a bit less. Guess my first impressions were off a bit.
ReplyDeleteOh man, I weirdly love Drew...and I never wear pink polish. And I had the same carpeting in my bedroom--I would have never made the connection but it's totally spot-on...hilarious!
ReplyDeletethanks for the swatches! I have some shopping to do... but wondering if I should hold out for more mattes? I saw this image:
ReplyDeletehttp://2.bp.blogspot.com/_fPrgQ4gjD4k/Sjv9x1LFAdI/AAAAAAAAB3I/nyT2DQkDzs8/s1600-h/zoyamattetease.jpg
is that a green matte?!
meh. it chopped the URL.
ReplyDeletegreen matte?
http://tiny.cc/SAoWM
My favorites are Anaka, Drew (my bedroom carpet color when I was younger!!), Ciara and Demi. Your pics look great as always and make me want them all!!
ReplyDeleteLacquer Laine, My mind TOTALLY changed when I saw them in person! :D
ReplyDeleteAngel, aww thank you :)
Michelle, I didn't think you'd be particularly wild about them, but I do think Demi would be hot on you :D
Anonymous, from comparing the bottles alone, they're pretty close! Ibiza looks more shimmery to me, but I'll have to do a side-by-side to be sure.
Liz, lol I knew what you meant! :D
Anna, mine too! I really dig a lot of the Truth ones more than I thought I did...
Raqueleza, right on! :D
Firepail, I saw those, but I didn't realize they were mattes until just now! OMG!!! AWESOME!!! I think those are supposed to be Holiday, so they might not be out for a couple months.
Denette, Mauve carpet children unite! Hahaha :D
ReplyDeleteI love many of these colours...but of course that always happens when I see your swatches! Thanks for running the contest!
ReplyDeleteOh, and off topic, my guess for your RBL polish is pumpkin orange. :) I am so excited I had to post another comment!!!
OMG thank you so much for such a lovely chance, I absolutely love this new collection, it's purely awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnaka and Ibiza are my favorites from your swatches :)
ReplyDeleteoooo these are fab. Def want the Demi in Dare collection. Actually i want them all
ReplyDeleteHot hot hot! Awesome pics as usual *crosses fingers*
ReplyDeletePinta and Envy I love. The other blue looks too similar to Zoya's Indigo. At least that's what I'm telling myself because I'm supposed to be a on a strict no-buy til next year.
ReplyDeleteStill, Kalmia and Penny are calling for me. Strange because I tend to not like red, pinks, oranges or the like. None from that side of the rainbow.
Scrangie, you are publishing polish porn! After retiring from the business, I have been getting rid of all my retail. You have gotten me so intrigued by some new companies I never purchased from. Thank God I got rid of so much, because now I am filling up all that new space with new nail polish! The heck with the no buy! I just splurged at Nubar and put an order in at The Industry Source for some new Zoya colors and a few China Glaze's for good measure!
ReplyDeleteHey Scrangie!
ReplyDeleteI was wondering if you could be so kind and swatch Ibiza and Indigo (I believe.. the dark one from Downtown) together, and maybe Lael and the purple cremes together as well? I love my Lael and my cremes so I think I'll love most of Dare. Indigo isn't working for me - I'm wearing it now. It just looks black and if I want black I'll wear Raven.
Thanks!
you always have beautiful pictures, but your giveaway has inspired me to leave a comment. For a first ever giveaway, this is f*cking amazing!!! Sorry but I'm very excited, whoever the winner is will be VEEERRRY Lucky!!
ReplyDeletei love pinta, demi, drew and ciara.... this a very nice collection. cool giveaway!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the contest! Very excited for Envy, and I may have to jump on the Drew bandwagon
ReplyDelete@Caroline *waves* hi sweetie!
I had my bedroom walls painted in a mauve shade similar to Drew back in the 80s. I also had mauve curtains. I was such a girly girl, and mauve was the color for home decor. As much as I loved it at the time, I cringe when I think about it now.
ReplyDeleteMmm... Ibiza.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, I'm only commenting for the giveaway.
Helena
Pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteYou always do such a great job.
My favourites of these are Envy and Demi, although Demi looks like it may be dupeable with a Chi Chi polish I saw the other day...
ReplyDeleteAnd woohoo to the competition! With your readership though, I think my chances are slim! Ah well, it's all luck.
I love Demi and Drew!
ReplyDeleteYour swatches are always impeccable! There are so many colours I want after seeing them on your nails.
ReplyDeleteOh, and thanks for opening your contest up to even us Canadians! :) It's really nice of you.
I wasn't sure about these, but now that I've seen YOUR swatches, I'm totally changing my mind! I want them all now!!! :-) It'd be awesome to win this!!
ReplyDeleteYou always have the most beautiful swatches! I wish someday to have the polish application skills you have. A girl can dream!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness... these look fabulous! I think this is the first time I've ever contemplated getting the full set. My faves are Anaka, Drew, Isla, Penny, Ciara, Envy and Ibiza.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, your swatches are beautiful (as always). I actually wondered whether Envy had a bit of shimmer as creme can sometimes fall a bit flat with wear. I'm glad that there is even though it's only a tiny bit.
Cheers!
Oooh gorgeous colors! Would love to win!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest, Scrangie! I constantly lurk - you're an every day must-read for me - but never comment. I must say, however, that you're responsible for the rehabilitation of my neglected nails. Thank you so much! You rock, Scrangie, you rock!
ReplyDeleteHow does Envy compare to Zulu? 0_o
ReplyDeleteDef need Anaka, Isla & Envy. Great swatches doll!
ReplyDeleteThe more I see these colors the more I love them. At first I only wanted Envy, but now about 7 are must haves. I think by the time the collections come out I will need all of them. =D
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome of you and Zoya to do this contest!
I love Pinta! It's a definite must have for me. And Envy...I would love to have a great dark green creme.
ReplyDeletethose colors are to die for..i must get the green one...LOVE LOVE LOVE
ReplyDeleteI am soooo looking forward to these :D
ReplyDeleteA giveaway! Internationally! Woho!
ReplyDeleteAnaka and Isla are just breathtakingly pretty, ohhhh I hope I win to have a chance to try on those two ^_^
ReplyDeleteThanks for the contest Scrangie :o)
Gawds, you feed my polish addiction. I've never been so into doing my nails until I read your posts - then I go home and paint paint paint.
ReplyDeleteit is really generous of you and Zoya to be giving away all those polishes. Thanks!
How gorgeous your nails look. Every color looks so pretty on you. Your nails are just perfect! I'm also so excited over your contest. Thank you so much. I can't believe it, both collections!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful, vibrant colors!!!! Thanks for the giveaway!!!
ReplyDeleteI love your swatches Scrangie!
ReplyDeleteCould you please compare Misa A Sin Worth Committing to Ibiza.
I have changed my opinion on the Truth colors...I was not really interested in them until I saw your photos. I love Anaka, Isla and Penny from Truth and Envy Ibiza and Pinta from Dare.
TIA
Could you also compare Isla to CG Thunderbird?
ReplyDeleteThanks again
Just when I think I know which colors I want, out comes another photo-rich post from you to grow my lemmings! You're, like, Lemming Miracle Grow!
ReplyDeleteLove it... thanks!
Thank you for chance to win. I don't usually buy Zoya, but if I do win they may change my alliegence forever! Very pretty colours - I love every one, but if I bought every colour I loved from every collection I'd be penniless!!! Your swatch photos are all always lovely and clear and do represent colours well. You apply polish beautifully and your nails look amazing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous pair of collections. I've been drooling over Truth ever since the promos were released and now I'm in love with Dare too!
ReplyDeleteAnka and Isla are both beautiful! I was wondering if you can find Zoya polishes in any stores or if they're exclusively online?
ReplyDeleteOMG they look so pretty!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can add anything that hasn't alraedy been said!
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a Dare girl...and yes, your photos and commentary are awesome, thankyou.
Love your swatches! I wish my hands and nails were as beautiful as yours.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to nail polishes (what was I doing in my past 30+ years?!). Bought my first OPIs late last year and just got my first batch of Zoya today. Can't wait to try them.
Thank you for showing us the beauty of nails and polishes!
Thanks for the great swatches, looking forward to grabbing them, Envy, Demi, Ibiza, Pinta... oh, so much more...
ReplyDeletei have some awards for you
ReplyDeleteWow, Drew is such an interesting color! Not sure if it'd be flattering on my skin tone though.
ReplyDeletePenny, on the other hand... perfect for a steampunk manicure!
Thanks for the swatches and the very generous giveaway, Scrangie!
Ooooooooooooooh, these are smashing. My favorites definitely are from the Dare collection--Demi, Envy, Ibiza and Pinta. The only one I really liked from the Truth side is Isla.
ReplyDeleteYay, contests!!!
I've been stalking this blog for a while but this is my first post.
I'm curious about which topcoat you used. Your nails look like glass. Beautiful.
How close would you say Isla is to China Glaze's Thunderbird?
ReplyDeleteWow! I haven't bought Zoya polishes in a while, but these are definitely going on my wishlist thanks to your gorgeous pics and clear descriptions. I hope they come out in the UK at the same time.
ReplyDeleteTHOSE COLORS ARE TO DIE FOR...IMUST GET THE BLUE...LOVE LOVE LOVE

Hi Scrangie, what a fantastic chance you've given us. I've never really been bothered with my nails before but since reading your blog and others I feel really motivated to look after them. I've also been trying much bolder colours instead of the really pale ones I'm used to.
ReplyDeleteSharon x
WOW Scrangie these are AMAZING! Isla, Penny, Ciara and Demi are must-haves for me! You always have the most amazing swatches!
ReplyDeleteWhen you get a chance, could you do a comparison of Isla to Thunderbird and Blair, and Ciara to Moxie? Thanks!!!
I am totally in love with all the cremes. I LOVE CREMES!!!
ReplyDeleteI adore Ciara and Demi!

ReplyDeleteI love Drew, Isla, Demi, Ibiza and Vanessa Ibiza! I want these glazes to me!!! ^.^ It is the only way to achieve them, living in a small town in Brazil! Far from São Paulo, where it would be easier ..
ReplyDeleteI am crazy about these glazes!
Please!
I love Isla and Envy. Allya Yourish. sylvan.ahyourish09@gmail.com. Check out my blog, http://paintedtips.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteIsla's really pretty! And the way you rave over it just leaves me lemming for it :) How does Isla compare to CG's Thunderbird? If they're really similar I'll get CG as it's really hard to get Zoya in my part of the world :(
ReplyDeleteI wanted to name my favourite but they're all so opaque and shiny I love them all.
ReplyDeleteI had a quick question. Do you think Isla and CG Thunderbird are almost alike or is it just in the pics? Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteO sorteio já foi feito???
ReplyDeleteNão vi nada sobre ele!
Alguém responda?! Quero muito esses esmaltes, e o sorteio é o único meio de tê-los, já que sou brasileira e nunca vou pra aí..
The draw has been done?
I have not seen anything about it!
Someone reply! I much these enamels, and drawing is the only way to have them, because I am Brazilian and I never go there ..
is demi a dupe for opi pamploma purple??
ReplyDeleteand while we are on the subject, are any of the zoya mattes dupes for opi mattes? i've noticed striking similarities between suzi skis and loredana, also we'll always have paris with the pink matte velvet and opi ink w/ the purple matte velvet from zoya.
It's so beautiful!
