Essie Viva La Vespa
Essie Viva La Vespa.
This is another one of those jaw-droppingly gorgeous polishes that make me get all silly and googly-eyed. It's a medium purple shimmer polish that has a subtle duochrome look to it. It's like purple on top of more purple, and when the light hits it just right you can see little speckles of blue and red and purple. It looks almost metallic in certain lights, and it's so vibrant that it just glows. I love colors that glow, and this might be one of the glowiest ones out there! It is a little on the sheer side and definitely requires three coats.
My picture also does this polish no justice. I have a hard time getting purples to look right, they always end up looking blue. The color in this picture is actually pretty close to real life, but in real life it leans a tiny little bit more red-purple than this. Not bad at all. Sadly, this picture doesn't capture the glowiness of this polish. It's just... just... BAM!!! In your face!!! Glowy purple!!!
This color is (for some unfathomable reason) discontinued, but if you do get a chance to buy this, do it! You will not regret it. This is an amazing color- a color I have actually worn for almost two weeks straight because I love it so much. I never do that! Now that's saying something.
I'm working on a ton of awesome fun things right now, and I'll be doing swatches of some 2009 collections shortly. If I can get some decent sunlight, that is. I love winter and cloudy weather, but damn! Sometimes I just need to get my swatches done! LOL
*drops jaw* GAAH! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteA happy new year to you Scrangie! Let it be filled of thousands of new nail polish discoveries in the fumes of polish love! LOL! Hugs!
OMG, love it!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks a little like Sexy Dived, or maybe what I hope Sexy Divied would look like....
I just bought this and I'm SO glad I did!
ReplyDeleteLove it! .... Stunning - I'm going to have to go to Ulta today and look for this polish! Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOMG, it's gaaaaawgeous!!
ReplyDeleteWhy do they always discontinue the most beautiful colors?
Found it on eBay; off to buy it :)
Greetings from Finland!

You have a very nice and individual style of writing :)
Keep up the good work!
I thank all the nail fairies who dragged me to snatch this polish. love love your blog, scrangi!
ReplyDeleteHi Scrangie! Is Zoya's Yasmeen a dup for Viva La Vespa? It appears to be a close match. Also, what polish remover do you use to remove Nfu-oh polishes?!?
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Hi Scrangie!
ReplyDeleteHow close is this to Sexy Divide? Just wondering if I need this too...
Rocketqueen, Awwwe thank you so much, and the same to you! Love ya Rocketqueen :) *hugs*
ReplyDeleteLina, it is similar, but the textures are quite different. I wish I could capture its true beauty on film!
Mazoo, rock on girl! You will looooove it!
Susan, Ahh, this polish has been discontinued for a very long time :( You can still find it on eBay though! :)
Helena, I know!!! Isn't that terrible?! It's always the best stuff that gets discontinued :(
Charming nails, paljon kiitoksia :) I love your blog too :)
Piece Of Cake, isn't it a beautiful color? Thank you so much!! :)
Denny, I don't think I know of any exact dupes for Viva La Vespa. I wouldn't say that Yasmeen is a match, they aren't all that similar in real life :(
For Nfu Ohs, I just use my regular polish remover or Zoya Remove+, they don't give me any trouble :)
Anonymous, they are similar but not twins. I can do a comparison if you'd like :) If you get a chance to pick this up, please do! It's heavenly!
Thanks a bunch for the offer. Sure I'd like a comparison! It will give me clarity. lol
ReplyDeleteDenny, you got it. When I get a chance, I'll snap a photo for you :)
ReplyDeleteI look forward to it. Thanks again. Oh, btw I love your blog a whole lot!!!!!
