I'm a huge fan of anything seasonal and festive- I wear jack-o-lantern perfume in October and I'm not at all opposed to wearing a kooky Christmas sweater in December, so , naturally, when I saw these little cuties sitting on a grocery store cosmetics shelf it was love at first sight. (Wow, that was one terrible sentence. Yikes.)
The first thing that caught my eye was a set of mini glitter polishes. None of them have names, but the set is labelled "Ornaments." My favorite of the bunch (and the only one I've photographed so far) is this purple jelly glitter. At first it seemed like a purple version of China Glaze Emerald Sparkle, but it reminds me more of Zoya Roxy on the nail. I wish this came in a full size.
(That looks like a cat hair on my index finger... I have no idea where that came from. )
Slightly different lighting.
The other colors in the set are all jelly glitters- green, pale blue, red, and clear-ish with pastel glitter. I have heard rumors that there are sets with different colors, but my store only had one set.
Next to the Ornaments set was a display full of the cutest little polishes ever- Snowman head-shaped bottles with super awesome glitter polishes inside!
My favorite is this red and green glitter:
This lighting shows the red more...
But this lighting shows the green a little better.
I just loooooove this polish! I've worn it three times since I bought it. It looks great on its own- these pictures are three coats- but it looks way more cool over black. One coat over black is super sparkly and festive, but since you're only doing one coat the red and green don't blend to make a brown look. Love it love it love it! I haven't tried this over white or other colors, but I'm sure it would look awesome. Maybe over gold too! The glitter in the red and green snowman is very fine, almost microglitter. It's nice and smooth and not difficult to remove.
The other colors I picked up were a hot pink shimmer and a red and silver glitter.
This is the hot pink...
... Which seems totally out of place among the wintery, Christmassy holiday colors.
This is the red and silver glitter....
... A medium sized red and silver glitter in a red jelly base.
These are only a few of the colors I saw on the display. I believe there was a black, a shimmery white, maybe a few others- but these were the sparkliest ones, so these were the ones that caught my eye and came home with me.
If you can tell from my pictures, they snowmen have little hats! How cute is that?
can you pretty please tell me where you got those??!?!?!?!??!! omg im so excited but i think this will be on eof those only in the states thngs :( im already sad. really really sad,i love the living day lights out of christmas.
ReplyDeleteDanielle, I love Christmas too :D
ReplyDeleteI got these at Meijer (US grocery store), but I think they are available at most drugstores/grocery stores (CVS, Walgreens, that type of place)
They were on their own display that wasn't even near the nail polish, so you might have to search for them :D
I saw these little snowmen polishes at Rite Aid and almost bought all of them but didn't; trying to save money for Christmas. But now I am going back to get them.
ReplyDeleteAaah, those bottles are super cute! I love the first and the last polish in this post. Too bad we don't have any Meijer stores here in Sweden. :/
ReplyDeleteI saw these at my local Rite Aid and almost bought them. Thanks for the swatches!
ReplyDeleteWow, I was already wanting the Snowmen, but now I *must* find the Ornaments too!
ReplyDeleteOooh! I want the red&green glitter one! It looks fabulous!!
ReplyDeletei dont have rite aid ,cvs,or walgreens and i need them :(
ReplyDeleteAwwww...adorable bottles, and pretty colours. The green-and-red glitter is spectacular, and I'm really digging that pink one. Thanks for the swatches! :)
ReplyDeleteDanielle, I'm in the same boat as you, since I don't live in the States. But maybe someone might sell it on eBay? It's worth checking out.
ReplyDeleteOr...maybe Scrangie has some dupes she can think of off-hand? Then at least you can get a similar colour. As for the snowman bottles, well, yeah, that might be tough to get your hands on...
How much were these? I love them O_O
ReplyDeleteOh, the bottles are so cute!
ReplyDeleteKatee, Now I'm wishing I got more of them, I heard there were more colors than what my store had! Now I can't find them. Argh.
ReplyDeleteChaosophia, awww. But you have lots of other really cool stuff in Sweden :D <3
VampyVarnish, you're welcome! I'm a sucker for super-cute bottles filled with glitter :D
Anonymous, when I went back to look for more Snowmen, they had moved the Ornaments to another area and there were a TON of them! You might have to hunt for them in another area of the store like I did :D
Sminkan, isn't it pretty? I think I could make my own version easily, but the bottles are just so cute!
Danielle, awwwe :( I'm not sure where else the have them- any Canadians reading this who have spotted them? Maybe at SDM??
Atomica, aren't they so cool? I got all excited in the middle of the store when I saw them, LOL
As for dupes, Nubar's glitters are the same texture, so you could easily mix Grass Green and Red to get the same effect. Color Club's are also similar but the glitter particles are bigger
Rachel, I believe I paid $2.49 for these :D
Sanna, they're sooooo adorable! I will keep them with my pumpkin bottles :D
