Reader Request: Zoya Candy Collection

This is one of the most fun collections from Zoya, and definitely in my Top 3 Favorite Zoya Collections (number one is Downtown and number two is Chit Chat!).

Creamy, a beautiful lemon yellow. I can't think of very many creamy yellow things... Bananas? Creamed Corn? Odd name, but still pretty!

Sweet. Very sweet and innocent bubblegum pink cream.

Yummy. Fantastic blue-raspberry cotton candy blue! Love this one. It stands out!

Tangy. Green apple green shimmer with slight orange duochrome.

Tart. Medium blue shimmer, very smooth application!

Juicy. This is the only one out of the collection that I don't like. The color is very nice, but the formula sucks. It's extremely sheer and streaky. This picture is five coats. Five coats and it's still see-though and streaky! It needs six coats to look even. This one needs improvement. I could never wear this. If you like this color, you might want to try Color Club Power Play instead, it's completely opaque in two thin coats, it's brighter and it dries amazingly fast!

  1. Gah! Shame on you Scrangie!! Giving me more lemmings, I'll be selling my house & living in the cardboard boxes all the polishes come in at this rate! ;-P I love the 1st 3, especially the pink. O/T but do you have the Konad french manicure plates? I was thinking of getting them & wondered if it was worth it? Thanks :-)

  2. Hey Carla G. :) LOL! I think I'll be doing the same!

Anyway, yes I do have the Konad french manicure plates (the straight ones and the design ones) but I have never tried them! I will give them a test drive and let you know how it turns out. They seem like they would make a home french manicure very easy!

  5. OMG you've for once SAVED me money! :P I was really keen on Juicy, but after this, even tho I covet the colour, I won't be buying it. Dupe from ColorClub not so good, as I can't get it in Britain. Any other dupes/close matches out there from other brands you might think of? :)

  6. Love the Candy Collection colors. Juicy is so pretty, it's a shame application is so tricky. Had trouble using it for a pedi, but can probably use for a mani when I have more control.

  7. Sanna, it definitely is :)

Lina-Elvira, I'm glad I could help! :) As for dupes, Essie Bermuda Shorts is somewhat similar, though brighter. OPI Can You Dig It is also similar, but more muted. China Glaze Flying Dragon is close, but it has glitter. OPI Plugged-In Plum is also similar, but it's shimmery. Hmmm... If I come up with a better match I'll be sure to let you know :)

Roberta S, if you have the patience for it, it's a lovely color... I'm just a very impatient person when it comes to polish :)

  10. where do you get your zoya nail polishes? do you order it from a website?

  11. Juicy was a real tragedy in this collection. :( I so wanted it to work; I tried so hard. But, nothing worked. I've searched in vain for a dupe - CC Power Play and Essie Bermuda Shorts are close, as you said, but Juicy isn't neon. Maybe they'll fix this formula some day.

  12. Oooh, I like that yellow!

I was surprised to see that you didn't like Juicy. Then I read the reason, and it all makes sense... FIVE coats?! Outrageous. Such a shame with such a pretty color. :(

  13. Yummy, Tart and Tangy would look good in my collection! But no, no more summer colors this year. I am waiting for fall! :D

  14. Haha, thanks Mom!

Stephanie, who knows, maybe they'll tweak the formula! I can't imagine many people liking it if it takes that much effort to apply.

Hallie, yes, I order directly from Zoya at Zoya.com (or ArtOfBeauty.com)- Check them out, they have a ton of really interesting colors! :)

Sania, I hope so! I haven't found another color exactly like it... *sigh*

Chaosophia, isn't Juicy such a pretty color? I would love to be able to wear it, but six coats would probably take six days to dry :) A shame, indeed!

Sminkan, definitely! There are so many amazing colors headed out way for fall, and when the leaves start changing colors, who wants to wear hot pink? ;-)

  15. what do you think of china glaze colors? i've never used one, but i'm wondering if you think they are of great quality/good as OPI.

  16. Hey there, Hallie! I *love* China Glaze! They are about equal in quality to OPI, but I feel they take longer to dry. They have an amazing color selection, there's something to suit everyone's taste. I'd highly recommend China Glaze :)

  17. thanks for your opinion scrangie. i just ordered the love collection of orly and so i'll be trying out my first orly bottle ever to see how i like it. i've been wondering how the brush for orly nail polish looks like, if it is prowide like opi's. oh well, i'll just have to wait and see when the bottles come.

also, i went to zoya.com to look at their nail polish and they have amazing colors! isn't there a site out there that sells zoya cheaper?

  18. Thanks Scrangie, I'm the one who requested this collection, love them all, but the first 3 especially!!!

  19. Hallie, the Orly brushes are regular size :) I like Orly a lot, I should post more about them!
As for a site that sells Zoya cheaper, I'm not really sure! I've never bought Zoya anywhere else. I don't think it's carried at any of the main online beauty retailers...

K.H., you're very welcome! :) Those are my favorites, too ;-)
