Wow, I apologize for the lack of interesting posts. To be completely honest, I've been busy playing FFVII: Crisis Core. And, after this post, I intend to play it some more. But don't worry, I'll return to blog again! (Not that anyone was worried. )
I'm getting ready to do a massive amount of pictures (any requests?), but in the meantime, I thought I'd give my opinion.
Personally, I am not jumping on the "Green" wagon. I'm not "going green" with my beauty products, nail polish especially.
I mean, sometimes (most of the time) it seems like one big scare tactic or advertisement- Buy THIS nail polish or you'll get CANCER!!! Your other nail polish is TOXIC and you'll DIE and the earth will IMPLODE and millions of people will DIE!!!! Our nail polish will keep you from dying and save the universe (see the green font and the bunny picture? We mean business!)
I really miss my nail polish with "deadly toxic chemicals." It was so much better with them - smoother, thinner, easier to apply, lasted longer, dried faster, et cetera. I hoard my old OPI polishes and I'm always looking for more.
Sure, I'll still use the new "big 3 free" polishes, but that doesn't mean I'm happy about it- it means I don't have a choice! You may even catch me adding toulene-rich thinner to them. But, big 3 or not, I'll always love nail polish. I just hope this whole guilt-trip/scare-tactic advertising trend dies down.
If you need me, I'll be cutting down trees and burning a pile of tires in my backyard while applying aerosol hairspray and breathing deadly, earth-destroying carbon dioxide fumes into the ozone.
Just kidding - except the carbon dioxide part. A girl's gotta breathe. :)
(I'll really be playing FFVII Crisis Core.)

I have to say, I really appreciate your honesty about this topic. I feel this way as well, but find any attempt to express this opinion to be very difficult. People automatically write you off as a bad person. I will be thankful when the scare tactics die down as well. I'm so tired of all these people being so self righteous just because they bought an energy saving light bulb and stopped using nail polish with a few chemicals. Thanks for touching on this topic and being so blunt.
ReplyDeleteAnd now we know just how right they were...
DeleteI agree 100% about people automatically writing you off as a bad person. Sometimes it's really difficult to have an unpopular opinion just because of how people tend to react!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you agree. Thanks so much for your comment.
Yay! I'm glad you're back. Your pics are awesome and though I like to read your posts at NB I also like to have a blog to return to :)

Thanks, Emelie! That makes me happy. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally agree! Sure, let people buy 3-free polishes if they like, but let the rest of us have a choice, too. I don't think there is any reason to ban chemicals that have been used safely for decades. If nail polish was toxic, we would have known by now.
ReplyDeleteSara, exactly!!
ReplyDeleteI don't want someone to decide for me what I can and can't use. I want the freedom to choose!
hello, I´m from Brazil, and I have to say, I love your blog, your pictures are very nice and very helpful. First, I want to say that I respect your opnion and understand that you should have the right to choose whatever you want to wear on your nails. However, I want to show you the other side of this situation. I have been allergic to nailpolish for almost 15 years, and I absolutely love them. Can you imagine such a nightmare? It´s just sad. I know I lot of people like me and living in my country doesn´t help. I´ve always payed really high prices for 3-free nailpolish and most of these brands are not even available in here. So, I hope you understand how important it is to me that china glaze, OPI and others are making new formulas that can make possible to me to wear nice colors on my nails again.
